MLB Postseason Thread

I wasn't feeling the other thread, which was really just a Blue Jays cheer. Let's go! Mets and Giants tonight. Can Thor crumple MadBum's playoff experience?

Tonight's game is going to be interesting. I love my Rangers but I expect a blowout in game 1 for the Blue Jays with Odor being plunked of course. Then the Rangers will finish up with the Blue Jays and move on to the ALCS 🙂

I'm not into any team this year -- I just DO NOT want the Cubs. There are so many transplanted Cubs fans in Milwaukee it's nauseating. Not to mention they are unbearable. I hope they make it to game 7 and lose on some Billy Buckner-esque play.

If the series are as good as the WC games were, this is going to be an October for the ages.

Used to watch a lot of baseball then lost interest. Yesterday I semi-watched the Mets game and this is all I came away with... 162 games and it came down to 1 game with 1 pitcher dominating all the hitters (Syndergaard did too I know). Lots of wasted time this game we consider our most popular sport.

That makes no sense at all. How is it "wasted time"?
So if the NBA playoffs come down to game 7, the entire season is a waste? (for the record, I hate the NBA and DO, in fact, think the entire season is waste)

7 games vs. 1 game and 1 pitcher to determine the better team.

If you don't want to be a wildcard team, just win your division. Problem solved. The second wildcard spot gets more teams involved in the playoff picture late in the season and makes winning the division that much more important. Probably the only smart change MLB has made in my lifetime.

the single game WC playoff is about the most exciting single sporting game there is (minus a game 7 of whatever postseason)
Win or go home is incredible. Watch the losers' and winners' faces. Did you hear the crowd when Encarnacion hit that bomb? Did you hear the silence when Gillaspie hit his? Just amazing. And don't try to tell me it makes the 162 prior games pointless, because I bet the Cardinals would tell you they won another game or two in July.

Not to mention Thor couldn't have done a better job in a high pressure game, yet they still lost. He'll be a force to reckon with for years to come.

Thor pitched as good as Mad Bum -- if not better. Mets couldn't be patience and let Mad Bum get out of innings quick and that kept him in the game longer (the goal with Madison hs to be make him work and get him out by the 7th inning -- don't help him stay in the game. Giants would have been better going down on Ks than swinging on pitch #3 every time. Giants were patient and worked Thor and he hit his PC and had to exit. Even though he got a pile of Ks. That game was destined to be decided by the bullpen and Giants won that chess game.

I want to see Kershaw slay it in the NLDS. The Dodgers might be the only team that can take down the Cubs.

- Oops, NLDS
