We'll have to see if Tex stays or goes. If he stays, I certainly think he was worth the trade. If you've followed him since he's been on the Braves, he's been wrecking the NL. How many top prospects end up being worthless? There's really no way to determine who wins in this trade right now. If Tex leaves the Braves, then it's a bad trade. If the prospects don't do shit for Texas...
I think you get the point.
He wasn't going to stay with Texas, that's for damn sure. In which case it was a good trade for us, especially with he flashes we have seen from Salty (I think once he gets used to the league team he will be even better). I also have only heard good things about the minor league guys we got in the deal.
I agree that if he leaves the Braves it's a bad deal, which is why I called it a bad deal: because Tex's agent is, in fact, Satan in disguise. I don't think there is any way Tex stays unless your owner shells out more than Steinbrenner and good luck with that.
So really, you got a great player, we got a decent young player (proven to be decent) with the potential to be great, your top infield prospect (described as a defensive "phenom" at 18), and 2 pitching prospects both rated top20 in your system.
Like I said, I am talking under the assumption he doesn't stay. If that turns out the be the case then if you don't win the world series next year the trade was a bust. If he stays then the trade was about even imo.
I think you will see what I mean about Scott Boras being Satan incarnate over the next year and a month or so.
