Well the "good Ollie" made an appearence at Yankee stadium tonight & despite Delgado getting robbed of a 3-run homer by the umpire-crew the Mets gave the last-place Yankees a beating.

Remains to be seen if it'll carry over & get the team going, but regardless it was a great experience watching Mets fans take over the Bronx tonight ... even the bleachers could be clearly heard chanting Lets go Mets!

I'm very happy with the performance of the team against the Yankees two best pitchers but you are right in that it must carry over to the 4 game series against the Braves. They have to start off strong in that day-night doubleheader with John Maine vs Tom Glavine in the first game and Claudio Vargas starting the second game.

Reyes has to play better as he makes lots of mistakes on the bases these days and still pops up too much. Delgado has looked better lately and I loved how Santana and Ollie went deep in the games. Thank god I didn't have to see Heilman in that series.

Well so much for anything positive at all ... looks like the only thing those two victories over the weekend prove is that the Yankees belong in last place.

And adding insult to injury (or vice-versa) Ryan Church is in the hospital overnight with a mild concussion after getting whacked in the head sliding into second base on the final play of the night game & most likely heading for the DL.

I don't even know what to say at this point ... this is just sad.

Color me not surprised. This is typical Mets bullshit. They thrash the Yanks and then look limp in Atlanta. On top of that all the negative Willie talk regarding that interview he had with Bergen Record reporter Ian O'Connor. Of course he backtracked on his more controversial (ie: racial) comments but its back to negative play with the Mets.

Sucks what happened to Church as he has by FAR been the best player on the team. Without him the Mets certainly won't score as much especially since Reyes still plays with his cabesa up his culo and Wright is just too inconsistent. Beltran needs to start hitting too. Pelfrey has been good his last two starts so I hope he can pitch well today. This Jurrjens dude the Braves have is pretty darn good. Could be another long night at Turner Cemetery.

How 'bout those Mets! The usual Turner Cemetery performance by the lifeless Mets. Moises Alou left the game with a strained calf muscle. Wonderful. I'm surprised he lasted this long.

Dr. Wee Willie Randolph issued an apology for his recent statements in an interview before the game. Not that it matters at this point since the wheels are in motion for some change and I think the way the Mets are playing Willie's days are numbered.

Santana pitches tomorrow but the Mets forgot how to hit now so who knows what'll happen.

Weds nights game was just sickening & at this point my opinion is that although hes not the only problem by any means Willie has got to go ... he seems to have lost whatever control he had over the team & his latest comments have only made things worse.

Bottom line is that its nothing an 8-game winning streak couldn't fix, but somhow I don't think thats in the cards for this team. 🙁

Meh.. same ol' shit. Mets need to watch tapes of this series and see how the Braves hustle on every play no matter what. When you hustle and play hard good things happen. I wish the Mets played like the Braves. A payroll of $137,793,376 gets you this?? Nice job Mets.

go Braves

Credit where credit is due ... the Braves outplayed the Mets in every facet of the game during this seris & deserved the sweep.

The way the Mets are playing right now, all THEY deserve is a share of last place.

From bad to worse.

Nice time for Billy to give up his first earned run eh? Castillol is worthless now as he's now showcasing himself to be a defensive liability. Marlon hurt his hammy and he's gone for awhile. Alou goes on the DL and the idiots call up a third catcher (Casanova) and are short an outfielder especially since Church isn't ready yet. Reyes has been improving at the plate but still plays with his head up his ass. He really shows no baseball smarts at all. Its all raw talent with him. Would be nice if Beltran can get a hit in the clutch.

How 'bout that moron Willie leaving a super shaky Perez to start the 6th inning with 102 pitches and 8 fucking walks?? That backfired nicely. Good job Willie!

Mets called up prospect Nick Evans after the game to replace Marlon. He can play 1st, outfield..etc..much like Marlon.

messy messy messy

The hideous road trip is complete and the Mets finally go home to what will be a VICIOUS shea crowd. The Mets went 3 - 6 on the road trip and the Willie Watch continues as the Mets play the first place Marlins. Willie is set to meet with Omar and Wilpons for a face to face conversation and Willie will have to explain his controversial comments as well as talk about what he plans on doing with the Mets as the underwhelming season continues.

This team has issues and is just hard to watch. Its one thing to lose a hard fought game but the Mets play some awful baseball.

The only potential bright spot is maybe Willie will be fired tomorrow ... its not like its 100% his fault the team is playing so badly but theres no question a change needs to be made & you can't fire the whole team.

W T F..designate Heilman for assignment NOW!

I understand why Willie went with him since he looked like his old self the other day but man.. Heilman was just awful last night. Not sure what they can do with him really. I did read at metsblog that there word regarding him getting the "Trachsel Treatment" (sending him to the minors to get straightened out) which I think would be a good thing.

This Muniz kid looks pretty good and I think will do a fine job as a temp replacement.

what the heck is with perez tonight

Ummmm what do you mean by "tonight"

he is an inconsistent pitcher... this is what you get from inconsistent pithcers... one good start, one bad start... etc.

A truly pathetic job by the crapola Mets getting swept by the garbage Padres who may have the worst lineup I've seen this season from any team. Not much to say about this overrated team at this point. The Phillies are already making their move to run away with the division while the mediocre, overrated and overpaid bums from Flushing do their usual crap. Inexcusable.

$137,793,376 payroll LOL

My worry is that the Mets had plenty of trouble scoring runs last year & offensively the team is far weaker now.

Man I hope I'm wrong but so far the 2008 season feels just like a continuation of September 2007.

Unfortunately it looks like I was on the money with these statements! 🙁

And adding insult to injury I once again I find myself holding tickets to some Mets games I really don't feel like attending Weds, Fri & Sat.

Despite the dismal situation I havn't completely given up hope but its not easy!
