Holy cow..what a terrible game. Park was garbage, Mets are not hitting Olsen and the defense just took a big dump in Flushing.

Mike Pelfrey has been awful so far in his two starts and with the Duque injury he may get quite a few more starts as someone else will take over for Duque (like Sosa or Vargas).

if Oliver Perez is brilliant in 4 out of 5 starts, I can live with him blowing up in the other ;)

seriously though, looks like Peterson has got him back on track, also done a great job with Maine turning into a real solid member of the rotation

I really don't know whats happening with Bileman. He has been AWFUL and no one says a damn thing. He throws a meatball up in the zone, gives up a fat homer and has that "where am I" expression on his face that pisses me off. I hope Heilman is paying attention to Joe Smith because that kid is on a fasttrack to a specific and permanent bullpen role.

I can't believe that fool Chan Ho Park may get another start...and against Brandon Webb!! LAWL!!! What a mismatch!!!! I hope the Mets change their minds and at least give Jorge Sosa a shot.

I hope Park doesn't get another start. I was at that game on Monday and it sucked being there

Park has been designated for assignment back to AAA

Saturday's starter will either be Sele or more likely Sosa

man...I was listening to the game during my nightshift and I almost spilled by coffee when he hit it. Every bench player King Omar signs always turns to pure gold!!! GOLD!

I'm trying to find the sny/Gary Cohen call but mlb just has the arizona telecast and the announcers (Thom Brenamman and Mark Grace) are horrid and literally DEAD QUIET after the homerun. Last time I checked dead silence is a no no in the industry but whatever.

Tonight its The Maine-iac versus the Big Bird. Lets send that chump Big Bird back to Sesame Street.

Another day...another win at Arizona! The Mets just own the D-backs! Jorge Sosa was just excellent tonight as well! Better than that damn fool Chan Ho Park thats for sure.

They are now in sole possession of first place and tomorrow they go for the sweep!

Only saw the first inning of Sosa's game and he really struggled to find teh strke zone, but I guess he settled down and pitched a good game.....hope it continues.

Pelfrey continues to struggle <sigh>

Could be a good matchup tonight, Perez taking on Zito at the Barry Bonds circus

The Mets played some embarrassing baseball last night. ****** pathetic display. A botched homerun call (the second in as many nights), big time disgraceful errors, leaving tons of runners on base, Delgado and Wright still have their heads in their asses and no one bothered to talk to Oliver Perez when trouble was brewing. In one inning the Giants scored 9 runs but only 2 were earned. Thats how bad the Mets were last night. :|

Setting up a glorious weekend for baseball.

Brewers and Mets

This should be a good series. A definite benchmark for my Brewers this year. If we can take the weekend series, I don't think there will be any doubt as to if they're just another National League Central team that overachieves or if they're serious contenders. I'm practical and I know that there is still a LOT of baseball to be played. I normally don't get excited about baseball til after the All-Star Game, but it's damn hard NOT to.

Suppan vs Sosa Friday night
Sheets vs Pelfrey Saturday afternoon
Capuano vs Perez Sunday afternoon

Combined record for the starting pitchers: 12-4 for the Brewers vs 4-7 for the Mets

I like the Brewers chances. But we'll see come Sunday. That's why, after all, they play the game.

Not to discredit them but if the Brewers win, it'll be against a bunch of unproven pitchers.

And the Mets bats haven't been swinging well lately, although Wright's is starting to wake up.
Reyes, Beltran and Alou (possibly Green) are the only consistent hitters.
Delgado is a no-show this year so far.

The Brewers look like a good team and I think if their young players reach their potential and their pitchers stay healthy they could be a team that will have YEARS of success. Some could say they were too busy beating up on the Pittsburgh's and Nationals of the world but thats not fair. Good teams are supposed to beat those scrubs.

I think this could be a great series for both teams as they both start a tough stretch. Mets will see the Brewers, Cubs, Braves and Yanks while the Brewers see the Mets, Phils, Twins and Dodgers. Excellent tests for both teams.

For me I just want to see the Mets hit well at Shea (which they haven't) and hopefully Sosa can repeat his great performance in Arizona with a strong one at Shea. Pelfrey needs to learn how to throw a strike so that game will be tough because of him. Perez should be fine but who the hell knows with him as he gets rattled easily.

Lets go Mets!

Yeah. Great litmus(sp?) test for the Brewers the next couple of weeks. I can't wait. My home state is in need of a good championship run for one of our teams.

Good game. Suppan was off tonight. He's going to have nights like this. We'll see tomorrow if the Brewers can bounce back.

Tomorrow's Mets starter, Mike Pelfrey, has a hard time with his control and as a result has been pretty bad so far. Its going to be very tough for him against those boppers like Fielder and Jenkins.

Sosa looked good again tonight, just a couple of mistakes for which he got punished big time.

I have a feeling he will be sticking around and Pelfrey will get bumped when Hernandez comes off the DL.

I think its safe to say that Mike Pelfrey is not ready for prime time. He was awful. Of course that big time brain fart in the 4th inning when the Brewers scored 2 runs while the Mets were fooling around trying to get a run down completed didn't help. The game was over when Hardy hit that grand slam.

I'm also not too impressed with Schoeneweis. A three year deal for him?? blech

I hope the good Oliver Perez shows up tomorrow afternoon.

Alou is hurt..again...with a pulled quad. I expect a DL stint but if thats the case who comes up?? Pitching help like Vargas or Brian Lawrence (if he's ready) or do the Mets actually call up Carlos Gomez (thats one big if..).

Mike Pelfrey was sent to AAA New Orleans. He really needs to work on his stuff big time. Carlos Gomez gets called up since Alou is hurt. I guess they will wait until Wednesday to see if Alou needs to go on the DL since Thursday was the next scheduled start for Pelfrey. From there I guess if he needs to go on the DL they can bring up a pitcher from AAA (and they are ALL stinkin it up there unfortunately).

What an effort by Oliver Perez!!! Only gave up 1 hit until that homer in the 9th. He was totally on and even got a rbi hit for himself.

So how 'bout that Carlos Gomez!! What a debut for the kid!!! His first hit, run scored, stolen base and made a nice play in right field too!

sweet win by the Mets and awesome pitching by Perez. With all the talk about Perez and Gomez, let's not forget about how Easley's batting was crazy today
