Anything is possible. Over 70 games left so teams could collapse, teams could rise to the occasion (and overachieve like hell), trades will be made. We'll see what happens. If the Braves want to make a serious run they need to fix that garbage bullpen.

no doubt pitching isn't their strength, but man this team can hit.

Man oh man, Beltran with two grand slams in two games.

I like how the announcers hyped up how this was a clutch situation so we'd see how Beltran does in such a situation. I guess he's doing a bit better than that other high priced guy over on that other NY team. ;)

bs, as much of that is about how bad the yankees fans are.

2 nights ago Arod hits a key HR to win the game then last night, the Yankees are up 4-2 and they stupid yankees fans BOOO Arod, ridiculous, talk about unrealistic and stupid expectations.

for yankees fans to root for giambi and boo ARod shows how ignorant they are.

WTF is Wagner doing? His pitches aren't even close? His 9th inning walks cost the Mets more than a few games this season.

Someone remind me why we paid him so much....

Yeah I agree (hence the smiley in my original post). Obviously Mets fans weren't too forgiving of Beltran last year and the start of this year as well. If he starts playing bad, I wonder how close he is to getting booed once again.

It is interesting though to see the role the media also seems to play in hyping up ARod's "lack of clutch."

any educated guesses as to who may start Saturday (4th game from tonight - Pelfrey)? We really need to catch a game.

I've never seen someone brag so much about 11.5 out :)

although they seem ready to make a run at the wildcard, only 4 out of that

Bradford the man. Gets the critical 2 outs with the bases loaded so no runs score.

(And yes, there's a day game today. :) )

That was a really tough loss yesterday after a long rain delay. The bats have been pretty quiet since that delay. Arroyo has pitched great for the Reds. Why did the Sawx trade him?? gee whiz..for Wily Mo Pena?!! LAWL

Mets gotta win this game! Its all about winning series for the rest of the season.

yes yes yes..I know that! :)

I'm just against giving up good, young pitching!! Arroyo has pitched some good games at Fenway and against the Yanks. That alone is enough reason to keep him! I wish Arroyo was wearing blue and orange because the Mets rotation is looking a wee old.

Mets win in extra innings with some nice doubles action in the 10th by Nady, Endy and Beltran! Wags seals the deal and the Mets win the series. Astros come to NY now and I don't think we'll see Clemens.

Mets take the first two games of the series with the Astros. First game had John Maine pitching a complete game and after a very shake first inning El Duque pitches 7 innings with Sanchez and Wags sealing the deal.

Tomorrow they go for the sweep against Oswalt.

Nothing when it comes to the Mets. I heard about Soriano possibly going to the White Sox.

One thing about all the trade talks is all the lame talk about Livan Hernandez. Who the hell wants Livan Hernandez on the Mets??? He has pitched poorly this season and his knee is close to exploding.

Holy cow has Glavine been stinkin it up or what? He is getting worse and worse. Like Trash he is getting very good run support but Tom Horrific is giving it back and then some. He even gave up a fat homer to Carlos Zambrano (who sure would look great in blue and orange!).

If Pedro pitches poorly in his first couple of starts the Mets are in trouble. They need a good established starter but who is available??? Too many teams are contending at the moment.

Apparently Mets are still talking to Oakland re. Zito

They have been demanding Milledge, Heilman and Pelfrey or Bannister in exchange.

I would love to see Zito in a Mets uniform, but that is a crazy price for a guy with 10 weeks left on his contract.

offer Lastings Milledge, Aaron Heilman and Phil Humber to the Marlins for Dontrelle Willis.

I would take that deal in a heartbeat. The Mets offense is going to be built around Wright, Reyes, and Beltran as their core so as nice of a player (I meant in terms of skill, not personality) as Milledge is, he can be expendable. Heilman hasn't pitched very well and is also expendable. Humber, as bad as it feels... if it takes him to seal the deal, then I wouldn't mind. Willis is young and has big-game, playoff experience and honestly I see more pluses with him in their rotation this year and possible in the future then keeping Heilman in the bullpen and the others in minors for x-numbe rof years.

I would agree Milledge is expendable, we can always pick up a free agent outfielder over winter to replace Floyd....of course that would cost a lot more $$ than Milledge would

Heilman is always going to have a chip on his shoulder about being in the bullpen.

If we can get a good young starter (Willis or Zito) that would free up one of current starters to join the bullpen replacing Heilman.

Martinez
Glavine
Willis/Zito
Trachsel
Maine/Hernandez/Pelfrey
