WHY OH WHY do I have to be at work right now instead of watching this massacre!

4 homers so far!

I can't believe I'm missing out on this game too. 🙁

The funny thing is, I went home for lunch and decided to catch a quick Mets inning, but the darn Mets went ahead and scored 5 runs! I was late coming back to work. 😱

Even got to see Oliver strike out the side that inning. 😀

He is worthless.

LOL. Beat me to it ray. I wanted to make a post about your 2nd favorite pitcher after Zambroken!

Mets win and complete the sweep!!

Now the Mets face their first true test of the season with a series against the improved Milwaukee Brewers. Should be a fun series!

sweet...great start to the season, best record in baseball and all against in division games

edit: and we came within half an inning of being undefeated this season 🙂

The heart of the
New York Mets' lineup made it perfectly clear Thursday it's possible to hit the ball over the wall at RFK Stadium. Over and over again, to all parts of the park.

Carlos Beltran, David Wright and Cliff Floyd homered in the first inning, and Carlos Delgado later tacked on a two-run shot, all off All-Star Livan Hernandez, starting the Mets on their way to a 13-4 win over the Nationals.
yeah baby.

heh...looks like play by play man Gary Cohen isn't a big fan of Victor Zambrano either. During the post game show Willie was talking about Zambrano's performance and you could hear Gary and Ron Darling making wise comments in the background. OOPS I thought I was hearing things but metsblog.com confirmed it.

During SportsNet NY's post-game interview with Willie Randolph from the team's locker room, the producers apparently forgot to shut off Gary Cohen's and Ron Darling's microphones, as they listened to the interview from the broadcast booth?

Therefore, during Randolph's interview, viewers could hear Cohen's under-the-breath comments, for instance?

Asked if Victor Zambrano fulfilled expectations on the day, Randolph responded, "Well, like I said, I didn't go into the game expecting anything in particular.??

Cohen them remarked, "That's an understatement? He just downplays everything."?

Darling followed by saying, "Well, what do you expect him to do."?

Randolph continued with regards to Zambrano, "Well, he started to labor after the fifth, but the first time out you can't expect him to be on the top of his game."?

Cohen then remarked, while laughing, "You can never expect him to be on top of his game, because he never is."?

lol Gary is a long time Mets fan so I understand his feelings but he's on TV now and an employee of the Mets (before he was the radio guy for WFAN). He best be careful now that he is on TV now. On top of that SNY needs to get their act together. They have numerous tech issues.

Tom G 11 K's in 6IP, WTF is going on?

He and Maddux are on this HUGE rebound, HTF did braves management let those two get away?

Well Maddux is a soft tosser so as long as he has his control he will be effective. Not sure why the Braves let him go. Glavine now uses his curveball alot more and pitches inside more these days. He's at over 100 pitches though so I think he's done for night. He's been impressive so far this season (and he was awesome during the second half of last season).

and the first season of the year before. since he's been with the mets he's only manage a good 1/2 season each season. his first season was a total loss.

but he has given you guys a good 1/2 season each season since.

however, this season with the Offense and Defense you have behind him, he might turn out a good full season.

if pedro and glavine give you guys 35 wins between the two of them and the other three starters give you 35 wins between the 3 of them, 20 wins from middle relief, 5 wins from wagner 95 to 100 wins is pretty realistic for the mets. i think 100 wins will put them #2 or #3 in the NL this season.

F'N BULLPEN IS GONNA BLOW IT FOR GLAVINE!! WTF :|

that's part of the reason glavine had such a bad second half his 2nd year with the Mets, after having an amazing half but having almost no wins to show for it.

anyway, would suck for glavine if he doesn't get the win. i halfway want him to get the 300 wins, altho, if he had stayed with the braves he would probably be a lot closer to it.

GODDAMMIT, SUX living in the Philly area, 🙁

when i lived in NJ, i got all the local NY AND Local philly sports, now i only get philly sports. GDI.

SUCKS.

Mets win a tough game against the Brewers on a pretty damn cold night. Lets go Mets baby!

Tomorrow its Trachsel vs Ohka.

The bullpen almost blew it and I hope thats not because of overwork (I doubt that). Could be just a super cold day. Heilman had absolutely nothing tonight so hopefully Trash can put up 8 solid innings and give the pen a break.

man beltran didnt look to be hustling at all for a fly ball today that dropped in and let the 4th run in...even the brewers announcers were saying, "i have no clue how beltran didnt catch that"

theres a surprise Julio gives up a bunch of runs!

HE IS WORTHLESS!!

That trade (Benson/Julio) is by FAR the worst Omar has made. Its not as bad as the Kazmir/Zambrano trade as Kazmir looks to have great stuff but the Mets basically gave away Benson (yea yea..they got some money back..so what, like the Mets are broke).

ray

i'm still trying to figure out what that means, NO WHERE NEAR as bad but it's close?

how can it be close if it's nowhere near?

😉

yes, bad trade tho.

eh..excuse my poor grammar but you know what I mean. Both trades suck.

braves look bad, mets look good.

my moneys still on the braves tho. 😉

what a crushing blow it's going to be for mets fans after a start like this when the braves overtake the mets and win the division.

😉

OMG Julio went an inning w/o giving up a run!

Good game by the Mets. Delgado was such a great pick up by the Mets. Mets probably would've won the division last year if he signed with them then.
