MLB 2010: The Show

idk. The bat controls in the last one really turned me off. To this day I can't hit a ball to save my life unless its by accident, and I've been through all the tutorials and whatnot. Everything else about it was great though, so if they work on that then i'll get it.
 
if you haven't already try adjusting your settings to 'rookie' instead of 'veteran'/'all-star'. then you dont have to worry about pitch location and just guessing what pitch is coming. and then i usually always guess fastball, and if im right i just make sure its in the zone and swing and if my guess is wrong i sit and wait on the off-speed stuff to get to me. using that system i went from a lot of strike-outs and no walks to probably about 1 strikeout every 35-40 at-bats and 1 walk every 15-20 at-bats.
 
I actually might consider it. I ordered Rainbow Six Vegas from gamefly a few years ago, and MLB the show 2008 was in the envelope. I hate baseball.... but I had it so I popped it in.

Tried road to the show as a pitcher. Pretty sure I kept that game in my PS3 drive for a good 8 months. might not hurt to try 2010 🙂

I can't wait for this to come out. Love the MLB series and the Road To The Show mode. I'm pre-ordering as well to get the 6 dlc stadiums.
 
I know we say it every year but should we try and do an AT online league? I'm curious to see if there's enough interest here to actually get it off the ground this season.
 
I think the only way my Mets win the world series is if I play as them in this game. <sigh>

lol thanks for the vote of confidence. guess we'll just stick to sharing psn id's and just playing each other that way. hell for some even doing that is a chore and a half.
 
I can tell you that if I bought this game I would definitely join you guys online. I'm sure I was a much better hitter IRL than I would be in game...lol
 
alright picked this one up and played for about an hour. first things first: home run derby 😀 . having the guys sit on the side and doing towel waves and bows for the home runs was pretty damn cool. also seeing the legacy and silver era players (ruth, gehrig, reggie) and the option of using them is a nice touch. i was mesmerized by the opening video sequence, usually i skip right past it but it was neat see all the oddities of this past season (werth & ellsbury stealing home, scutaro stealing second on a walk, bruntlett's unassisted triple play to end the mets game, konerko and dye both hitting their 300th home run on back to back shots, burnett striking out 3 batters with 9 pitches and fielder's walk-off when he stomps on home plate and the whole team collapses around him). the game looks amazing and i cant wait until later on when im sure to put in some massive time playing.
 
Any interest in an AT league? I'm debating what to do with this Gamestop gift card (either MLB or GoW III), and an AT league would answer that question for me. I was the commissioner of our AT Madden league this year and could try to help out if we have enough interest in a MLB 10 league.

So, besides anxi80 and me, anyone interested in potentially forming an Anandtech league? I don't know how online leagues in this work to be honest, but I am assuming they have something similar to Madden online leagues.

I will go ahead and call the Cubs (I think) just in case.
 
I don't believe one has been released yet, but I'm not at home to confirm. Unfortunately, I haven't even opened my copy of MLB 10 yet and may not have a chance to play it until tomorrow night. 🙁
 
I played a little last night. I tried out the Home Run Derby and only managed 2 homers after playing it twice. Then I played a few minutes of an exhibition game and did OK -- I got 3 quick outs and then when I was up to bat, my first batter actually got a base hit. I quickly returned to suckville after that, though.

I think this game is going to be fun.

It's been a while since I played MLB the show (I skipped the 09 version). I tend to swing at everything. Usually pitches I swing at are balls, and pitches that I think are balls are strikes. 🙄

But, once I finally get the rhythm of hitting down, it'll be pretty fun.
