MLA vs APA.

I always thought that MLA was the norm now and that APA was pretty much extinct. However my mom has gone back to college to get her master's degree and they want her to use APA format. My mom was asking me for help with formatting but I don't have the slightest idea what APA is like since even in high school we used MLA.

Generally we were told to use any common, consistent format.
Most often this ended up being MLA or Chicago. I can't remember writing anything in college using APA.

For what it's worth (not much probably), my degree is in Scientific & Technical Communication.

I have one class where the prof demands APA and another where the prof demands MLA. *shrugs* It's not like it's hard, to be honest.

(PolySci = APA, English = MLA)

It's up to the department. I major in Broadcasting and we use APA. Just tell your mom to buy the APA manual, it's not that expensive.
