Depends on the chipset, some are pickier than others. BX's handle different RAM sticks pretty well, others perhaps less so. Majority of people are able to do it.

Mixing RAM will not slow down your CPU. The speed at which the RAM runs is ENTIRELY determined by the FSB or some fraction of the FSB.

The only time it can possibly slow down is if you have some PC133, some PC100, and you cannot run both DIMMs at 133MHz, requiring you to drop down to 100MHz FSB.

<<I have even heard that mixing ram can even slow you cpu down>>

That's BS other than in the situation Andy mentioned.

My advise... Chuck it in, see what happens for a 1 week trial period, and it it BSODs you alot and stuff take it out and keep it safe for future use if needed for an extra comp or something. Or even sell it off to a friend or something. Keep the Crucial seelt he Generic, or keep the one with more MB.

Albert.

hmmm, yeah I was thinking that I could always just leave the crucial ram in (both 128 sticks) if there was a problem. Thing is, I shouldn't have to pay $50 just so I can put newer ram in with the same performance
