Mixed memory - timings

I have 1GB of Geil at DDR400 rated 2.5-7-4-4 in one color of slots and 1GB of Corsair rated at 2-3-2-6 in the other pair of slots.

My memory timings are by SPD on a 875P motherboard.

Should I set timing manually for all 4 or leave it at SPD timings?

As you've already discovered, SPD timings aren't going to work, since the two sets have such wildly different timings. You're gonna have to manually set the timings @ 2.5-4-4-7, and hope that the Corsair has no problems running at those timings, which it really shouldn't.
 
I guess a better question was will SPD set the timings for the matched slot pairs correctly or does it choose the timings by either worst case or by slot 1 or something?

OK - here is what is going on. I've been getting crashes in games (UT2004, DOD Source). It is not heat related with regards to CPU and GPU, both are staying cool in games. I'm not overclocked right now.

I just ran Memtest 86+ 1.70 on each module in slot 1 and everything passes. The GEIL showed 2-4-4-7 and the Corsair showed 2-3-2-6 in Memtest. With all modules in, I get a failure in test 8 in the range of 569 - 983 MB. CAS is 2-4-4-7 on memtest when running.

I have the Geil in 1 & 3, the Corsair in 2 & 4.

I just manually set the memory timing to 2.5-4-4-7 (Geil rating) and up'd the memory voltage to 2.8V which is higher than default for the MB but within limits for the memory. I have not run Memtest 86+ again yet.

CPU Voltage is set to 1.575V in bios which is rated voltage.

CPUZ reports the following under the SPD tab:

Memory - Geil GL1GB4000DC 2x512MB, Corsair TWINX1024-3500LLPRO 2x512MB
GPU - Visiontek X800Pro with AC Cooler w/ AS5
4x80 WD800JB drives in Raid5 (240GB)
WinXP Pro
Antec p160 with 120mm fans front and back.

Speedfan is reporting the following:
VCOREA 1.47V
VCOREB 1.52V
+3.3V 2.8V
+5V 4.97V
+12V 11.67V
-12V -11.95V
-5V -5.10V
+5VSB 5.46V
VBAT 3.15V

Should I be concerned about the +3.3V reading of 2.8V? Is my PS too light now?

Any other recommendations for troubleshooting?

you should run it again, see what it does at those timings.

That does look a bit low to me. The low +5 and +12V readings could be due to calibration issues, but the +3.3v is much lower than the other rails.

Ran it for 5 hours last night and it made 8 passes with no errors. I will put a multimeter on the PS and see what I really have for 3.3V.

Also it's not a bad idea to increase your Mobo voltage just a bit since on the Intel platform you have the memory controller on the northbridge. On an AMD system you may need a little CPU voltage since the controller is in the CPU.

My motherboard only allows me to change CPU, Memory, and AGP voltage. I have uped the CPI to 1.6V (P4EE needs 1.575), I don't have a specific way to increase the voltage for the motherboard. I'm going to keep looking for a good deal on a quality PFC power supply but for now, I have the performance and stability I want. If would be nice to overclock but in reality, I don't really need it and it is not worth stressing thngs that I know are on the edge.
