Mitt Romney accidentally tells the truth about the GOP base

If you think for a moment that Obama "feels your pain" you have another thing comin. He has spent the vast majority of his career as a University of Chicago Law School mostly teaching Constitutional Law.

It's basicly the same thing and many of the same issues.

I thought he was in Kenya because how can he have taught Constitutional law when he bought his degrees?

Despite the fact that he has engaged in the same off the wall rhetoric himself, i think he pretty much nails it; The conservative 'base' is batshit crazy and you basically have to be batshit crazy yourself to be electable. I think this is why Huntsman flamed out: even though he probably had more conservative credentials than most of the other candidates, he carried himself more as a moderate, image wise.

You absolutely ignore that this isn't a "Republican/Democrat" thing - it's a byproduct of all of politics in our country these days.

Wait - never mind. "Your side" is better 🙄

Oh look, another person too intellectually lazy to actually examine and evaluate the issues and candidates in our political system, and who probably believes that their dismissive attitude somehow demonstrates a more critical thought process; that lumping all American politics into one great big quagmire to be condemned qualifies them as some kind of impartial observer, rising above the skirmishes and seeing the forest for the trees.

You are free to make that assertion meanwhile you guy continues to sink his own ship with regular people.

Mitt Romney while attending a NASCAR event people had disposible ponchos because it was looking like rain, Mitt said to his own peeps,
“I like those fancy raincoats you bought,” he said. “Really sprung for the big bucks.”

Oh, look - another person that is ignorant enough to believe that one side is the cause of all of the ills in the country.

/golfclap, indeed.

Governor Romney really has the common touch. When asked if he follows racing he replied: “Not as closely as some of the most ardent fans. But I have some great friends that are NASCAR team owners

To be fair, the exact same thing was true of the Democrat base during the Bush years. If your guy isn't in office, attacking the person who is will almost always garner support with your base; that's why they're your base. The Democrat base would never admit that a single Bush policy was right; the Republican base will never admit that an Obama policy is right. That's what partisanship is. What would be nice is if the two parties stopped pandering to their base (who are going to vote for them regardless of anything they say or do) and started trying to win over independent voters by pushing more moderate policies. But that will never happen.

Bush had a policy that was not wrong?

He really has a problem with how he phrases things. All he had to say was "great friends in NASCAR". Why throw in the "owners" part?

Same with his wife's cars. Just say she drives a caddy. No need to use the plural. Many of us realized it was likely one at each house. But using the plural wasn't smart and gives good material to John Stewart etc.

He keeps putting his 'silver foot' in his mouth.

False equivalency is used to be able to do more and more insane things while simply claiming that the other side is "just as bad."

They are not equal.

Strawman. Let's say one group did 99% and one did 1%. You'd still be saying that they are both bad because technically they are. It isn't intellectually honest. When someone points out that the levels aren't equal, you just claim that they think it is 100% the other side's fault. You just decide to make something up and declare it to be fact. Neither of your attempts are even close to reasonable or fair.

WTF are you talking about? Bush was so bad that even the British hated us. Are you going to go off into whacko fundie land and call the British the Democratic base?

The US spent 60 years building up international goodwill and Bush used up every drop of it playing cowboy. That's pretty bad.

I don't think its an accident. Mitt's people are smelling a victory in MI and AZ and think he is on his way to the nomination. As we get closer to the general he will try to disassociate himself with the bat-shit crazy wing of the GOP. Question is are there too many of them and did Mitt go too far right in the primary.

This * infinity. The reason why Santorum and all the nuts are unelectable is because they do say retarded stuff to attract far-right retards.

Absolutely true. The Democrats and lefties are far, far worse and have done much more damage to this country.
