MITSUMI FA404 series Internal USB2.0 Flash Media + Floppy Drive

It has the typical floppy cable that I installed in the typical place, but it also has what appears to be a usb cable for the media cards. It's a 4 pin cable, so it doesn't look like it would go in the usb sockets(which are 9 pin). The only place it would seem to fit, would be where the the cd audio cable goes. That makes little sense, because it wouldn't be able to transfer data over that. This is on an nf7-s v2.0. I've already emailed mitsumi, since their online manual isn't working for me.

Anyone familiar with the drive who could help me out?
 
Well I couldn't find any additional posts on this, so I decided to take the plunge myself.

The card reader has a 4-pin USB connection which is required to be attached to the a USB header on the motherboard. The problem was that my motherboard has 10 pin USB headers.

If you can ever actually download the mitumsi manual, it shows you how to connect the 4-pin USB header from the Mitsumi drive to the 10-pin USB header. Once I did this the drive was card reader was recognized and I successfully transferred files from a flash card and my motherboard is not up in smoke.

Thanks to all of those who didn't reply to my trivial noob question. I hope this helps some other noob out there.

Actually, if you look at the labels on the connector you see the wires labled. Now in the A8N-SLI deluxe you have the diagram. It's easy, check your mobo cables. Okay now, who can get rid of that annoying ticking sound that it makes? I hate the ticking sound so much I disconnected the floppy cable and the media card still works but I'd rather not have to plug in the cable every time I want to read a floppy. Ahhhh.

I have this drive installed on the 4 pin motherboard headers. I suggest you look up your motherboard manual to figure out if these headers exist in the first place. I wouldn't expect Mitsumi to help with anything.

The 9 pin header you do see is probably for a motherboard supplied slot which provides additional USB ports.
 
Well two points.

1. My Mitsumi drive was an OEM product which did not come with a manual, and anyone who has tried to navigate the Mitsumi support website can understand the problem I was having getting the manual for this device to open. The manual for the device shows how to attach THE "4-pin" cable to a "9-pin" USB header.

2. I am currently using the ASUS A8N SLI deluxe motheboard. I did not see anything in the manual about a "4-pin" USB motherboard header, however there are several "9-pin" headers. Am I missing something, anyone know the answer to this?

Ususally I like to take the plunge myself (it is what I do in most DIY projects) However, electronic are a slightly different story. My clumsyness and ability to rationalize false ideas always (ie....hmmmm this cable fits in this space, therfore it must be the right spot) has me damaging things. But this time I figured a floppy drive without prior direction could be doable.......

What a rush!...........LOL
 
Hey, I was actually going to purchase one of those MITSUMI FA404 drives. I was wondering though, does it fit in a standard floppy bay in a case, or do you needed one of those 3.5 to 5.25 conversion kits. It appeared larger than a normal floppy due to the card readers on the top in the picture.
