My family was looking for a new big-screen TV and my dad was @ Fry's today and they had the Mitsubishi 65" Widescreen HDTV for $1500 ($1000 knocked off the price because it's a floor model and missing a remote). Is this the best we can get for this price range? I know it's a 2000-2001 model, but it looks like it checks out. Anyone want to put in some final thoughts?

The 65807 is the entry level into the Mits line in that model year.

That said, it's still a great deal for $1500. But, I would seriously consider an extended warranty (if available) and at least an ISF calibration (check out AVS Forum or Home Theater Spot (Mitsubishi forums)

I have the 55857 (mid-level model) and love it!

Yeah, I'll probably get it ISF calibrated if I think I need it (I see bugs and stuff)

A floor model might have significant burn-in problems, or some other damage you might want to check up on before purchasing. For that matter alone, I generally never buy a used RPTV, unless I can make sure that the person I'm buying it from took good care of the TV.

^what he said^

and think of all the time that the TV has been on - it an OLD TV. say it was put out onto the floor in 2001 - that is at least 365 days, 12+ hours a day of on time for the tv.

i would not buy it if i were you

They said it's only been out on the floor for two weeks. I dunno, I haven't seen the TV. My dad is bringing it home tomorrow, I figure I'll look at it myself, then call one of those ISF places, get an estimate and such.
