Ah well, not that seems like quite the viable reason to own a vehicle with a copious and open trunk space. Personally, I rarely use my trunk as it is. For example, I prefer putting groceries on the floor behind my seats so they don't roll around in the trunk.

Although sometimes hatches are kinda bad looking... like the Cobalt Hatch (I think that's what it was...). My brother rented a car and that's what he got... it looked like a hearse.

i'll hold judgement until i see one person (same thing i'm saying about the new WRX)...
but anyhow - it's an improvement over the evoIX -- still not the best looking car out there, but it has potential.

it sort of has a pig nose thing going on.... I think the solid color front bumper on the standard lancer (link) a little better

Not a huge fan of Junk in the trunk here :p. Sure you may have a little more versatility, but at least my nice new shiny car doesn't look like a station wagon.

I can't ever see myself owning another sedan. They just seem so impractical now. I also prefer the looks of the 3s hatch over the 3s sedan.

Hatches > Sedans in almost every possible way. Sedans only rule here in the US b/c of tradition. In Europe, hatches rule.

Iono if I really consider the 3 hatch a hatch. Its more of a wagon. For me, 2 doors with trunk space = hatch. 4 doors = wagon.

On that same line of thought, I love my subaru legacy wagon and will never go back to sedan again. Hatch, maybe.

EDIT: Unless the rear window is angled, like the Mazda6. THen its a hatch.

Focus 3-door = hatch
Focus 5-door = hatch
Focus Wagon = wagon

Mazda 3s = hatch. The 3s hatch is shorter than the sedan. Wagons are typically a couple of inches longer than their sedan counterpart.

When I had my Focus ZX3, I would always put small amounts of groceries (like if I only had a few bags) right behind the front seat. It was just easier to open the driver's door, pop the seat forward, drop the bags there, and then get in and drive off.

With my current car ('05 Altima), it's easier to throw stuff into the trunk.

What's the engine like?!

Well... let's just say that the powertrain and drivetrain are simply amazing.

You push the clutch in, shifter in first, bring RPM's up to 2000 or so, release clutch, and all 4 wheels instantly grab the road and you're pushed into the back of your seat as your floor the throttle. As you cross 3000 rpm, there's another sudden rush of power and you're done with 1st gear very soon. At this point, you shift into second and feel the rush of power yet again from the turbo, continues on through all the gears. Hitting 120 mph doesn't take much time at all and the car still has tons of room at stock specs beyond that.

Accelerating through each gear feels in some ways similar to an N/A Porsche 911. I don't know how to describe it though, I think it might be due to the air movement and the fact that it's AWD. In any case, it's beyond amazing.

PADDLE SHIFTERS! DROOOOL!

A standard 5-speed manual gearbox and a new 6-speed twin-clutch automatic with manual mode, codenamed SST, will be offered. The latter is similar to Volkswagen's DSG, meaning that it's essentially a manual transmission that has a seamless full automatic mode. In manual mode, up- and downshifts are performed sequentially via paddles behind the steering wheel, with each gear change performed faster than any human hand. An anonymous source inside the company claims that this new transmission will be better than VW's.

Reminds me of Ferrari F430's shifting system...

Oh JC, it will be nothing like the F1 system in a Ferarri. Why? Prices. Their newest F1 transmission costs more than this whole Evo...

Not to mention if the guy works for the company of course he is going to say it works better than VW's DSG...either way I'll wait for others to test it before drooling over it...

Most companies using a new SMG for the first time get it wrong and lacks serious invovlement...cough CVT cough BMW's SMG cough....that's right even BMW could not get it right away...I doubt it will be anything to drool over this time around...especially if it is over 100miliseconds per shift, which is probably is because of the price.

aesthetically, I looks very nice IMO. No being able to shift to the point where I cant go to 0-60 in 4.5 seconds isnt going to be a deal breaker for me.
