model 65809 : $2299 to be replaced by 65311
model 65819 : $2499 to be replaced by 65411

They are blowing these out to make room for the new models. Heard the only difference between them is 2 extra strech modes (same crt guns). Also, Mitsubishi will offer a "Promises module" to upgrade their tv's to future standards. Best price (by far) Ive seen for these TVs. Price was seen at Frys Sacramento, CA.

PS. You can bargain with them (I got free shipping).

I went to to Frys originally to get the Toshiba 65" for $2199, but they didn't have any in stock (Bait and Switch). Then the guy told me about the Mitsubishi 65" for $2499, and I got that one. Also did the no-interest financing until Jan. 2004, which they have on all Mitsubishi's.

The quality is great, although the sharpness was jacked way up when I first got it so I turned it way down.

The 2 extra stretch modes might be worth the extra money, since it seems like DVDs have different widescreen ratios, and I had to flip though the different stretch modes until I would get one that worked (filled the entire widescreen tv). Also I was reading online that ATI has a HDTV output card for a computer which allows you to connect your computer to the HDTV input on an HDTV and many people were having problems getting the desktop size to fit to their big screen HDTV.

Although hardly anything is broadcast in HDTV format it is still worth getting an HDTV now, because they have many enhancements for increasing the quality of regular television.

Definite hot deal.

I've had the 65809 for almost a year now and got it below cost for $2400 then. Great TV. You won't regret it one bit!

ATI does have a HD component dongle for their 8500 series card. Not sure how good it is though. Heard it limits DVDs to 480p and has slight overscan problems. Any one have this setup?

I have the 65809, got it from Sears a while back for $1900. I love the TV. Not the best you can buy, but you can make it really close. If you watch SAT TV, get a box with a better line doubler.
