GO MIT!! :)

I personally think any organization that openly threatens its own customers with harsh legal action for doing things that are their own legal right under the law is seriously whacked and needs to be done away with. I'm not talking about file sharing via things like Kazaa. I'm talking about the RIAA's attempt to completely crush all fair use laws and wipe them out of existance to make it so much easier to rape the end user/customer by forcing them to purchase music that is complete and utter cr*p. Bye bye RIAA. All this is gonna do is get you sued out of existance. Good riddence.

This is turning into an all out war. I wonder what will happen once the dust settles...

"Even Michael Jackson is concerned about the war on music fans. Why do the labels need such aggressive measures in their pursuit of our youth? "

Go Michael!!! Drop them from a balcony on their heads.

The RIAA right now are sitting back in their comfy seat, laughing at everyone. "HAHAHA we are going to be rich!"

Anyone know how to get a job with the RIAA??

Fair use is strictly defined by law. Exemption from legal action for copyright infringement applies only to analogue copying, or digital copying only using devices with approved copyright protection mechanism/technology. Fair use has never meant "whatever the hell I want to do with it". Sorry.

Note that no where does the law say these exemptions are "legal" or "authorized" or confer a "right" in any way. The law simply shields an individual from legal action arising from copyright infringements which are described as exemptions.

Once the RIAA manages to block every conceivable route of digital music distribution (p2p, bt, etc..), you know what i'm going to do? I'm still not going to buy music. Someone over there in needs a good swift blow to the crotch with a sack of doorknobs, that's what they need.

Hopefully one of these days one of the recording giants will come up with the idea to offer legal purchases of good-quality music on the 'net.

Let's start sending our Word documents as MP3 files with names like metallica.mp3.

What I want to know is, who is sitting down and verifying the music available from these people? Someone actually gets paid within their organization to download their own music from file swappers, verify it, and start the paperwork for court?

His music (most of it, at least) doesn't suck. It's just what he's done to himself, and his private life; those are the only questionable things, IMO.

Is there a website that the artists themselves can voice their opinions at? I'd like to see where most of them stand on the issue. I know many will not do so because it could hurt their reputation and/or contracts, but it would be nice.
