FYI....It's Lincoln Lab, not Labs (actually, Laboratory). Yeah, they are anal about it, not sure why. Apparently, if you add that s to the end, they will not even look at you during interview time. I guess because it is MIT, they can be picky about it. Oh well....now back on topic.

Pretty much. I mean, it's a wonderful thing if it proves to be true. But we're already using up natural resources and this means less people dieing each year and living to older ages.

DNA viruses like herpes are a more difficult target for this approach. Not impossible though.

It might be able to stop HIV from infecting a cell, but killing an infected cell is (again) a more difficult target, as HIV will be present as DNA in an infected cell.
