But at least they'll be a bunch of very healthy zombies.

:hmm:

I seem to have acquired either an echo, or a clone.

If true, this really does change the world

But I'll believe it when I hear more about it. These sort of magical cures are often too good to be true. I feel like with these sort of things there has to be a catch somewhere.

HIV lies dormant(non-replicating) in CD4+ T cells.

Herpes lies dormant in trigeminal ganlion.

these cells will carry virus dna but never be detected by this drug

virus wins

"Killing" viruses and such are easy, its letting the human survive the treatment that is hard

Thank you Dr. Obvious. So far the drug has done nothing bad to the animals, but of course it needs more testing - which is exactly what they are doing.

FYI....It's Lincoln Lab, not Labs (actually, Laboratory). Yeah, they are anal about it, not sure why. Apparently, if you add that s to the end, they will not even look at you during interview time. I guess because it is MIT, they can be picky about it. Oh well....now back on topic.

No herpes and no HIV? Giggity.

DNA viruses like herpes are a more difficult target for this approach. Not impossible though.

It might be able to stop HIV from infecting a cell, but killing an infected cell is (again) a more difficult target, as HIV will be present as DNA in an infected cell.

Also has a chance to kill healthy cells by the sounds of it. Also seems like it would kill infected neurons outright meanwhile your body typically refrains from just killing neurons willy nilly when you get rabies, shingles, etc.

Possible side effects: latent nervous system infection may cause stupidity, memory loss, loss of muscle control, and nerve pain! Hooray!

So, if you stick those cured mice in a maze and they just sit there and flip you the bird, does it mean they got smarter or dumber?

Side effects may include:
dry mouth
impotence
fecal incontinence
hairy palms
projectile defication
halitosis
testicular swelling
vaginal necrosis
and uncontrolled need to fap
