MIT gets $50M grant to develop futuristic battle uniform

There is some serious work that has to go into making a suit like that.... I don't think 5 years is enough...

<< Isn't that like 50 years of Canadian military budget? >>

why is it that every time military issues are mentioned someone takes a crack at Canada😛

I read about something like this a while ago in a magazine... Some other company (or was it MIT?) also has a military contract to make combat suits for US soldiers...

It's basically an exo-skeleton, with the joints powered by hydralics (sp?)... This will give soldiers superhuman strength... And there a computer on the back of the suit which has GPS, etc... They said if the soldier is wounded, they can give a command to the suit and it will literally walk the soldier home by itself...

When I read that article, the first thing that came to mind was Terminator... hehe

PS. Also, they already have prototype arms created... they said the major problem now is packing a good power source into the suit without making it too big...

Sweet! With things like being able to jump over a 20 feet tall wall, you think they'll be able to run faster too? The only thing with that is that nanotechnology isn't bulletproof and is kinda fragile. Even if you have a bullet-proof armor plate over it, the nanotech in the fabric underneath is going to get jarred. It'll be interesting to see how they pull this off 🙂
