Either that or they sense a kindred spirit in me lol. :tearsofjoy:

Problem is that "simple" women (or people for that matter) are not attractive sexually to me. Of course I care about things like "pointy-elbows" (lol) but physical attraction alone will only get a relationship through one or maybe a few dates for me.

Gotta talk about something when you're not busy taking the express train to pound-town, right? :p

Encountered a reference to an example of why it just doesn't work when you try to learn from mistakes.

Sean Connery passed on playing Gandalf in the LoTR, becuase he couldn't understand the script. Then it became a massive financial success so he decided he wouldn't make that mistake again. So he agreed to appear in League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, despite not really 'getting it'. Which turned out to be both a horrible experience for him making it, and a complete flop at the box office such that the expected lucrative 'franchise' never materialised. So bad was the experience that he retired and passed up on appearing in the next Indiana Jones movie (a fact which probably contributed to it turning out as bad as it did - probably would have been much better if it had been built around his pairing with Harrison Ford again, rather than trying to launch that utterly unlikable Shia Le Bouf character).

It so often seems to go like that - attempts to learn from past mistakes mean you just make a different, quite often much worse, mistake the next time. There just isn't enough continuity in either an individual's life or a society's history to be able to methodically eliminate all possible mistakes and find the 'correct' course. History isn't a science experiment. The circumstances constantly change.

The other example that comes to mind was that the Bolsheviks concluded, while trying to learn from the French Revolution, that it was a terrible mistake for left and right revolutionaries to turn against those in the 'centre'. Hence the left and right opposition in the Party refused to make common cause against Stalin, and he exterminated them each in turn (and went on to exterminate almost every body else as well).

On the other hand, I used to do oil changes without wearing safety goggles. Had some black gunk fall in my eye, fortunately no real damage done, but I always wear safety glasses/goggles when I do oil changes now.

I'm getting back into golf after laying low during pandemic (didn't hit a ball for 3 1/2 years). Played my 4th round this summer today. Hit some real good shots, but way too many stinkers. My putting's by far the best part of my game ATM. If you don't learn from your mistakes golfing, it's a disaster.

The biggest mistake being "playing golf"

Actually, it's a great clinic for life because enjoying/improving at golf sharpens one's critical faculties (mental AND physical).

I haven't done that, but guess I should add that to my checklist.

I haven't tried this one, but it looks like there's a KIRF here for $13:

The features look the same:

1. Food-grade silicone with 1-cup cavities
2. Metal support ring
3. Ability to bake in them (can bake mini loaves of banana bread & whatnot)
bought from ebay $3 (says food grade but from china... hmm... )
6 compartment, each compartment 4 oz
comes with lid.

1lb cooked spaghetti = 4 cups cooked (32oz)
my freezing cube holds 24oz so i guess i'll eat the remainder (8oz) right after i cook it :p

Wow nice got a link?

I bought the Amazon knockoff, it's pretty good! Thinner material than the actual brand but the lid is silicone, which is more floppy, which is nicer because it's easier to stretch out & get on top.

Ah, so it's one cup split over 6 compartments, whereas the Souper Cubes are 4 cups split over four one-cup compartments. The nice thing with the Souper Cubes is that they're bricks, so you can stack them pretty easily! I have to work with the knockoff ones to see about stacking, as they appear to have some grooves & maybe angles in the mold.

the knockoff is the one you linked above?

Yah, although it's only like $5 less. I'll have to test it out more to see if it's worth buying more or not!

Found this at Walmart. Rubbermaid 5pack. $3
It's even cheaper than Walmart brand for 2cup container size

One pound of dry pasta cooks up to about 8 cups (generally one pound of dry pasta = 4 cups of dry pasta = 8 cups of cooked pasta).
so i made a whole box of linguine and put into the 2 cup containers.
After microwaving to thaw out, it looks like this:
1689624029484.jpeg

that's like 33% more than i usually eat.
so apparently, i dont eat 1/4 of a box for a meal.
more like 1/6 of a box?

Also found out you can put more linguine into the container if you scoop it straight from the pot.
after you drain the water, the linguini expands. and it's harder to put into the container.

so since it expands, only fill the container 1/2 way with linguine straight from the pot?

-Cook all 1lb box.
-fits 3 of these containers full. Remaining portion I eat right there.
- found out 1/4 box of spaghetti is too much for me.

- next box put into 4 containers at 75%full and eat the 5th portion right there

Nice job!! Yeah, it gets pretty interesting once you get into it:

1. The convenience is amazing!

2. I switched to the Souper Cubes, because then I can do as little as a cup or even half a cup, but if I want more, I can add another brick or two to reheat

3. Then I made it easier with the Instapot, so I can cook stuff with the push of a button. That way I can achieve variety & don't get sick of eating the same stuff all the time

My current approach is:

1. Plan + shop once a week. I pick 7 things to make (it could be anything from breakfast burritos to cookie dough)

2. Cook one batch a day after work. Already planned out what to cook, already went shopping for it, already have the recipe printed out. Optionally can eat that day, but the purpose is to divvy up & freeze. Add the macros to the sticker.

3. Reheat what I want, when I want!

One batch usually makes at least 8 food bricks in the Souper Cubes. 8 bricks times 30 days = 240 bricks in my deep freezer every month. Tons of variety to choose from!
