I havent really followed this case much but isnt there some debate over brown surrendering and getting shot with his hands up? If thats the case I think a civil suit can probably go to trial.

Also people sue not just for $$$. If all you can do to make a injustice a justice is sue for money thats what you do. This is america. We sue here.

LOL!

NO.

That was the lie that the irresponsible media ran with to create a false narrative. The punk tried to take the officer's weapon, injured the officer while struggling for the weapon (when he was shot in the hand) and got shot exactly as he should have when attacking an officer and trying to take his weapon after robbing a store. At no point did he ever surrender or put his hands up.

The debate on the "hands up, don't shoot" narrative is about as even-balanced as the debate on global warming. All evidence points one way while a small group still persist on the basis that it's not 1000% absolutely conclusively proven.

This is why we can't have nice things.

I thought he was shot from some distance?

...as he charged the officer. FFS! Why does everyone who hears things like "unarmed" and "## feet away" assume the worst?! HE WAS ACTIVELY TRYING TO ARM HIMSELF AFTER ASSAULTING THE OFFICER! The officer was alrea[d]y shot and injured [and the weapon discharged] in a struggle with this same person who had already robbed a convenience store! There is no question that the shooting was justified. There was no question that Mike Brown could not be allowed to obtain the gun. Even when there was a question about justification [(]because we didn't know all the details[)] there was no reason to assume the worst... except idiocy.

You need to relax. You will blow a valve. 😉 So the officer was shot in this? I never heard that before.

You know I just tried to search for this "fact" and came up with nothing. You would think if the officer was shot everyone would talk about that. Why would you bring up something like that if it isnt even true? Im supposed to take everything you say as fact when I asked a simple question and you dish out some rumor stuff? Come on.

So basically the lawsuit is a good thing if there is still rumor mill crap going around. Jeezus christ. If you are low information then just say so and move on. Dont take some shit you read on the right wing blog (I cant even find that shit written anywhere) as fact when it isnt and then spread that further. This is whats wrong with this country.

the lawsuit is an attempt at a money grab; piggy backing of the information within the DOJ report.

Ignoring the facts and replacing with his own version. which others had shown to be false.

What he/lawyer is hoping for is the city will be gun shy (pun intended 😛) and settle to avoid dragging things through the mud again.

As others stated, if it was to actually go to trial; the judge would more than likely toss it.

They are banking that the city wants this mess to go away.

Wilson was shot??

No, he wasn't.

News to me. Might want to check that one.
It's a typo caused by trying to reword something on a smart phone where text selection was difficult (notice "alreay?").

Better? I was originally trying to point out that his weapon had already been discharged once in a struggle where Mike Brown tried to take it away and Mike Brown injured Officer Wilson. When I tried to add the part about him injuring Officer Wilson, I mangled the statement.

Geeze. My point did not even require Officer Wilson to be "shot." FFS, you don't wait until the unarmed person is armed, you are disarmed, AND you are injured by that armed person before you defend yourself. 🙄

I specifically said that Mike Brown could not be allowed to take the gun, which would specifically contradict that interpretation of my mangled statement earlier in the same post. Seeing this, it's very clear that I mangled my statement even if the statement itself was not clear. No conclusion I made required that interpretation, so don't dismiss it based on that interpretation. It was not based on a "rumor." It was based on Mike Brown attempting to take the gun and injuring Officer Wilson in the process, which is indisputable.

It sounds like you intend to dismiss what I said no matter what. "Right wing blog?" Where did that come from?!

No, he wasn't.
I know that, but watch people try to ignore me based on essentially a typo anyway. 🙄

Ok man ok. It was a typo. I believe you. I just assumed you got that info from some weird place. P&n is full of people spewing things from who knows where so you can imagine my surprise. Its all good.

Looks like Dorian will need any money he can receive to pay for a defense lawyer.

http://edition.cnn.com/2015/05/06/us/dorian-johnson-arrested/

(CNN)Police have arrested Dorian Johnson, the man who was walking with Michael Brown when he was fatally shot by an officer in Ferguson, Missouri.

Officers arrested Johnson Wednesday after he allegedly interfered with an arrest and was seen "discarding suspected narcotics on the ground," St. Louis County Police spokeswoman Leah K. Freeman said.

Charges in the case have not yet been filed, Freeman said. Johnson's attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

I bet those "discarded narcotics" were just homework for his chemistry 101 class and he dropped them on his way to college.

Either that or the cops planted them as retribution for the lawsuit. It's a much more reasonable explanation. 😉

Perhaps, the cops didn't plant the drugs; rather, they planted Johnson himself at the scene! Someone scooped him off the street and set him down at the scene of a crime!

Double down on stupidity.

Choose a legit battle to fight for/over.

Civil rights activists, religious leaders and others from around the United States are converging on the mostly black community of about 21,000 to commemorate the life and death of 18-year-old Michael Brown and call for improvements in relations with police.

The events, many organized by Brown's father, include marches, concerts and a moment of silence at midday on Sunday on the street where Brown was killed on Aug. 9, 2014.

"I'm expecting hundreds if not thousands of people," said Tommie Pierson Sr., pastor of the Greater St. Mark Family Church, where a service honoring Brown is scheduled this weekend. "We are not anticipating any violence. However, you have to always be prepared."
