I think this incident, along with Trayvon Martin, clearly show the incredible power of drive-by media. All it takes is one emotionally drawing fiction at the early stages of an event to sway the hearts and empty skulls of millions.

To be fair, the Trayvon case is a bit different. Zimmerman was, regardless of what he says, racially motivated to pursue Martin. While, I do believe Martin attacked Zimmerman and turned the event into one that put Zimmerman in a position to rightfully defend himself, it still started from racism. I have little doubt had Martin been white (or at least looked white) Zimmerman wouldn't have given more than a casual glance in his direction.

..so how will the lying liberals and their willing accomplices in the media attempt to rewrite history in an attempt to obfuscate the evidence and Grand Jury??

um..... riiiighhhtttt....... I think what many liberals would like to see is minority communities policed primarily by members of those communities..... not white suburbanites.

Unfortunately this particular case seems to be breaking down around racial lines instead of political lines. Most blacks still believe a grave injustice occurred, while most whites do not. I am white and don't believe a grave injustice occurred but I can not rule out that my race may have been a factor in my point of view.

Do you believe in white privilege?

Maybe it was due to the matching demographic of the criminals robbing houses in that neighborhood.

Not sure what that even means. I have heard the saying but never looked into it. I am not the most informed person on this forum...... by a long fucking shot.... LOL!!

Just curious.

"White privilege" (or "I hate myself for being white") is the idea that because you are white you have better chances at life, (IE getting into a university or a company job) and because of that you have to help those who are "less fortunate" (blacks, trans, etc).

It's pretty racist if you think about it.

fixed

can you please explain what that is?

I've heard it a bunch of times but never heard it explained.
White privilege (or white skin privilege) is a term for societal privileges that benefit white people beyond what is commonly experienced by non-white people under the same social, political, or economic circumstances. These privileges are unearned and are distributed based on values of the dominant group.

Maybe it was due to the matching demographic of the criminals robbing houses in that neighborhood.

Was it ever determined the criminals robbing houses in the neighborhood prior to that were, in fact, black? And, because a few black people happened to rob some houses means all black people are now suspicious? Are all Mexicans illegal aliens and drunkards? Are all Indians rapists? Are all white people Ponzi scheme running scumbags?

Do we get to classify an entire race based on the observed actions of a very small portion of that race now? And, do we not classify that action as racist anymore?

Good post😉

Have you seen me assign guilt to wilson or brown in this thread? If you haven't then exactly what is it that you find so offensive about my posts? I haven't tried to spin anything, sure I've given alternative hypotheticals but I also said they were hypotheticals.

Besides those who are using ferguson for political gain (and there are a lot and they reside on all segments of the political spectrum), what do you think is the major issue/concern for the current protestors are? I think if you understood why people all over the country are protesting you might share some of the concerns I have.

Maybe I don't want my town to get swept up in the next misunderstanding riled up by black leaders and result in half my town burnt to ashes. Maybe I want the freedom to drive interstates without having to worry which ignorant mob of protesters may lie ahead blocking the highway. Maybe I want African-Americans to believe this country is not so filled with unjust racists as certain leaders want them to believe. Maybe I want the media outlets who are fueling the violence to lose ratings.

We have other users here who, thankfully not recently, but every two to three months were posting a new thread about what new is happening in Zimmerman's life, with the explicitly written intention of persuading people that a murderer is free, and we all need to continue treating him as a guilty murderer. Maybe I'm taking care of my objection now in hopes of not having to rehash this same discussion every few months for the next two years 😛

Take your pick as to the reason.

That is exactly what I do not like.

Most of us wanted the decision that was based on the most truthful understanding of the incident. If Wilson used excessive force, we absolutely would want him to stand accountable for those actions. But on the other side, we also do not want people who blatantly and forcibly rob stores to be idolized. We see a minority shop owner working very hard at his business trying to earn his way through life, and see him shit upon, his work destroyed, for what?

Very little about this situation is "what I wanted".

Sure "the right" has a lot of problems lettings things go. If Benghazi, IRS, birth certificate scandals had a component of disruption, violence, destruction to innocent people like this situation does, for sure I'd be more riled up about those topics. But they don't. If Lois Lerner were standing accused not just for the current topic, but personally accused for all the past injustices the IRS has ever committed, like Wilson got piled on standing accused by the angry mob for all the injustices any white officers has ever committed, I'd be more engaged in that topic. If any of the scandals "the right" is pursuing involved directing nasty, hateful generalities against groups of the civilian population, I'd be more involved against those here keeping those topics alive.

This incident with Wilson & Brown has a very violent and destructive component to it that's being fed by everyone who continues to believe the manipulation.

Whatever. This all has been said before.

Profiling is acceptable. If you are always simply profiling based on race it's not.

When the police get a report of a black male or a white male. They tend to not stop many of the opposite color and focus on either the black or white male in question.

Sadly, much like every dog is a pit bull that's loose; most suspicious things are reported racially incorrectly.

...And, because a few black people happened to rob some houses means all black people are now suspicious?

For that time and place, profiling for a suspect's description is definitely appropriate and I expect our citizens to use such common sense. Don't go around watching women when there's a report of men committing home invasions.

To protect people you deal with what you're dealt. If that makes you uncomfortable then step aside and let intelligent people take the lead.

I think White Privilege is a cop out.

What's really happening is that those who experience white privilege are just experiencing life normally.

It's not white privilege, but the systematic oppression of black privilege instituted primarily by the completely insane drug war.

So blacks need to sell drugs, legally, to be able to get ahead?

NO, we just need to cancel the drug laws that give cops incentives to harass/arrest black people for victimless crimes or crimes of poverty.

I could get caught with a pound of weed in St. Louis and walk.

If I was black, it might ruin my life.

That's fucked up.

Still looks like you're saying blacks need to sell drugs to get ahead. There are other avenues to prosperity.

I'm not seeing the drug trade as a victimless crime. Especially anything above the pot level. A large percentage of the cases we saw on the GJ were tied to drugs, one way or another. Shoplifting, B&E, home invasions, murders, etc... My last session, there was a home invasion and rape while they were trying to find the dealers stash.

As an aside, highway patrol pulled an out of state car. Said he could smell the weed before he got to the car. Guy was transporting 4lbs. He'll be a ward of our state for a while.

.

The war on drugs is the biggest crime committed against the American people in my lifetime. It is NOT a war on drugs, it IS a war on FREEDOM. Remember that at ALL times.

Um yea, I was wrong. No doubt about that. It was a dumb idea in retrospect. I was expecting the entire city to be burned to the ground. That didn't happen. So by acknowledging my mistake, that means that you can't rub it in my face again. Got that? Don't bring this up again. It makes me look like a fool.

B.S. Spew that crap to the guy that got his head bashed in so the crack head could get $$ for his fix. Or the kid that's living in filth and feces because his Mom is a meth head. Or the 12 yo girl that the Mom is whoring out for her heroin.

Pot? I haven't heard of pot addictions causing the above so I don't really care bout that.

Oddly enough in other countries that have fully legalized drugs they don't have the violence issues that you outline. Furthermore making drugs illegal has literally zero to do with the examples you cite. One could even make the case its worse because of the illegality.

Wonder if they are subsidizing the addicts habits? They aren't holding down a job to cover a $100/day habit.

Legal or illegal, the addict will do whatever for his habit.

And, at what point was profiling based entirely upon the race of a subject and crimes committed by entirely different subjects appropriate in what Zimmerman did in regards to Martin? He saw a black guy in the neighborhood and automatically assumed he was up to no good. Like I said, had this been a white guy (or a guy who looked white), Zimmerman wouldn't have given chase.

If you have a description of a suspect, it is fine to look at those meeting that description more carefully, especially, when the description is broad. If I heard a news broadcast about a group of Asian kids hijacking people, I'd be a bit more watchful of groups of Asian kids roaming the streets. If I heard that two years ago a group of possibly Asian kids hijacked some people, I wouldn't follow every group of Asian kids I came across when there were no reports of that activity happening recently.

There is one country (Netherlands I believe) that actually has a free clinic where heroin addicts can come in once a day and receive a daily ration of heroin. They have to also have a medical screening and some counseling, but get clean heroin and gear free of charge. I believe it reduced crime and medical costs associated with those who are going to be addicts regardless.

That guy would have never had to bash someone's skull if crack was regulated like alcohol and the price wasn't artificially inflated due to prohibition.

Theft because of drug addiction is less a symptom of addiction and more a symptom of inflated prices.

I Disagree. I think GZ was so focused on catching a"bad guy" that it wouldn't have mattered if it was a black, white or asian. he was going to be teh hero and catch "the bad guy".

He was a wanna be cop who thought he could handle any situation. he was wrong and got his ass beat and he killed a kid.
