Maybe I don't want my town to get swept up in the next misunderstanding riled up by black leaders and result in half my town burnt to ashes. Maybe I want the freedom to drive interstates without having to worry which ignorant mob of protesters may lie ahead blocking the highway. Maybe I want African-Americans to believe this country is not so filled with unjust racists as certain leaders want them to believe. Maybe I want the media outlets who are fueling the violence to lose ratings.
We have other users here who, thankfully not recently, but every two to three months were posting a new thread about what new is happening in Zimmerman's life, with the explicitly written intention of persuading people that a murderer is free, and we all need to continue treating him as a guilty murderer. Maybe I'm taking care of my objection now in hopes of not having to rehash this same discussion every few months for the next two years 😛
Take your pick as to the reason.
That is exactly what I do not like.
Most of us wanted the decision that was based on the most truthful understanding of the incident. If Wilson used excessive force, we absolutely would want him to stand accountable for those actions. But on the other side, we also do not want people who blatantly and forcibly rob stores to be idolized. We see a minority shop owner working very hard at his business trying to earn his way through life, and see him shit upon, his work destroyed, for what?
Very little about this situation is "what I wanted".
Sure "the right" has a lot of problems lettings things go. If Benghazi, IRS, birth certificate scandals had a component of disruption, violence, destruction to innocent people like this situation does, for sure I'd be more riled up about those topics. But they don't. If Lois Lerner were standing accused not just for the current topic, but personally accused for all the past injustices the IRS has ever committed, like Wilson got piled on standing accused by the angry mob for all the injustices any white officers has ever committed, I'd be more engaged in that topic. If any of the scandals "the right" is pursuing involved directing nasty, hateful generalities against groups of the civilian population, I'd be more involved against those here keeping those topics alive.
This incident with Wilson & Brown has a very violent and destructive component to it that's being fed by everyone who continues to believe the manipulation.
Whatever. This all has been said before.
