Belmar said the incident started when Brown physically assaulted the police officer, pushing him into the officer's vehicle. He said there was a struggle inside the car, and at some point Brown reached for the officer's weapon. One shot was fired inside the vehicle.

Brown suffered fatal gunshot wounds outside of the vehicle, approximately 35 feet from the car. Belmar said multiple shell casings were found at the scene, and that Brown was shot more than once, but an exact number of shots fired has not yet been determined. All the shell casings came from the officer's weapon.

Belmar confirmed Brown was unarmed at the time of the shooting.

That's all the detail we have. Nothing leading up to the alledged assault, and not much after either. That's not an article you want to base your "facts" on. One thing is for certain, the officer's weapon was the only one fired.

I dont think I said anything about "facts". What I do know, is that we grant a certain privilege to officers. One of them is trust. Even though many people here would have you believe the majority of officers are crooked, its simply not true. As of right now, we know what we were told, and we were told that the kid attacked the officer. If you attack an officer, you can't expect it to end well.

Right, we hold officers to a lower standard than regular civilians.

Yeah! Smart people here. Hopefully more realize nearly all cop articles are click bait without any information and absolutely no follow up when the case actually moves through the courts.

But I want to be mad NOW! Why do we have to cloud the issue with facts all the time?!? It makes posting ignorant, angry, knee-jerk opinions so much harder!

Ugh... those details leave so many more questions.

So the fatal shots were at a distance of 35 feet? As in the teen was running away? I'm not liking the sound of this.

Maybe the FBI should be involved, if for no other reason than to protect the official findings and help restore confidence in them.

What happens when an officer attacks a citizen?

I will start a thread about it when that happens, but for now, this cop was assaulted and a kid paid his life by choosing to do so.

According to who - the cop? Its still unanswered why the boy was stopped and why the cop attempted to place the boy into the squad car. According to an eye witness, the officer pulled up in his vehicle, reached out and grabbed the teen by the neck and tried to pull him into the vehicle.

:hmm:

actually you are wrong it is very true that the majority of Police officers are crooked! If you have 1,000 Police Officers and they all know that one of them is crooked and they do nothing about that one officer,,,then it can be rightly interpreted that they all are crooked by the very fact they are not turning that one officer in for being crooked....

Officers attack citizens all the time......verbally as well as physically......This whole thing will not end well, the people are already rioting and braking into stores and what not......

I used to go to school in Ferguson and it's now an extension of STL crime. It's sad what the city has become.

We need Bill Cosby to clean up this pile of crap city... In all seriousness, the black minorities need to stop being protected and the thugs need to be called out for who they really are.

Glad my brother sold his car wash right in this area. I mean, North St. Louis is such a nice area and all. :whiste:

Some of the videos of the rioting/looting are downright disgusting. Is this really what justice looks like?
