Hi all:

Recently I decided to dive in to the Lava Pit known as "the search for the perfect web hosting service" as my other friends like to call it. ANd they are right, it's makes you go nuts, specially if you are in a urgent need for a good hosting service.

For the past 2 weeks, I have been e-mailing and checking out web hosting services, and 2 hours ago, I was so pushed off the edge that I banged my head on the monitor.

There is no perfect plan. There is either a
1. ridcolously expensive Setup-fee
2. 1 year contract
3. limit on the number of hits you get per month
4. uncountable hidden fees
5. extra fee for registering domain (it's funny, they say that they will register it for free in the hosting details, but then in small print they say that the service will bill you monthly... jeez, I could register it myself, so much for being free)
6. only 15-10 MB of web space

I have not yet found ONE, not even one hosting service that does not have one of the above's BS... those that do, the cost goes as high as $60 per month.

E-mailing the idiots doesn't help. I list them the specific questions that I have, very clearly. They reply "oh, there is no set-up fee if you sign up for an year"... "oh, the registration fee is extra"... "oh, it's free, but there is a whole bunch of other crap that you are gonna be over paying for..."

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

This forum is my last resort, if anyone knows a good hosting service wihtout surprises and a reasonable monthly fee, please, please, contact me, or e-mail me at Cydronate@hotmail.com

HEY!

This sounds pretty good. Are you currently a customer of theirs? Could you tell me if:

1. There is a setup fee, and if there is how much is it?
2. What's the fee for registering your domain name with them?
3. Is there any limit on the number of hits per month?

I know a friend which had a server with ochosting.com. He got the NT plan but I would personally go with UNIX plan. $29.99 a month with domain, 400 Megs.

I've been using hostway.com and they haven't shafted me yet. After searching around for ever I decided that i'd rather pay the extra $2/month to have a big-brand-name host.

Frankly, i want to co-locate BAD, but its too expensive.
