This seems like a whole lot of trouble to go to for just $26,000 in Mac laptops.
You could run a few identity theft and ebay scams and do better with less risk and more of a payoff.
I say someone needed some laptops that absolutely could never be traced back to them for some other reason than to sell.
I bet these things get used once each and then tossed.
 
Since they are laptops, I'm sure BB has a list of the serial numbers of all the laptops stolen. BB can hunt them down the second they get registered.
 
LOL @ this store being 5 minutes from my house and me working at another Best Buy only ten minutes away from this one for the past four years.

The management at this store sucks, straight douchebags, FWIW. Not that they really had any control over a heist like this, but still, fuck 'em.

apple laptops are the least common plus the highest resale. It makes sense. Good luck at finding a serial number once the laptop goes. About the only time this works is when the customer calls in to register it. Most don't. In the end the customer gets screwed and the thief is rarely caught.

These kinds of heists are hardly rocket science. If anyone pays attention to the news and tv/movies most give you the step by steps.

All someone would need to know is that all this Best Buys security is ground based. The roof of many of these style buildings is pretty simple to get in. It's like those that fortify their front doors so much, yet have easy to open doors out back or better a nice window by the deadbolt.

Hell in many exterior structures you can just peel back the sheeting and get in. A few nails vs a fortified deadbolt.

Crime is increases because people don't give a shit anymore...it used to be limited not because it was hard to do but because people knew better. Now penalties are dropping so the crime becomes more attractive.
