Missing Vista DVD

Hi,
I cant find the Vista DVD for my laptop. Should I contact Dell or Microsoft to get a replacement?

Thanks

you could just torrent the version of vista you want since it has a SLIC2 in the bios.

if you got vista home basic x86 and you restored using the vista ultimate x64 disc 99.999% will work with the same manufacturer oem o/s disc.

Are you sure you got a Vista disc with your Dell? Many OEMs now provide that on a hidden partition on the hard drive. In any case, the plain Vista disk from anything else will not restore all your laptiop drivers. Those you can download from Dell relative to your specific notebook, and burn them to a CDR for your retention.

It's probably on a hidden partition. There are usually instructions to burn yourself a backup disc. recheck your box or get onto a Dell support chat for details.

that is correct if it doesnt comes with dvd then it is on your hidden hard drive partition

for the last 4 years all the Dell's I have had/gotten (well over 2 dozen desktops/laptops) have always had them ship with the OS CD/DVD. If you lost yours, you can call Dell up and they will ship you one for free. You can also do it online as well on their site (sorry dont remeber where to do it though). I have done it in the past when i lost the disks a system came with that I was getting rid of. They will send all the disks/software the computer came with, not just the OS disk.

Just torrent a non-cracked DVD.

Too bad the DELL OEM key on the bottom of the system will not work with a non OEM copy. OEM in this case means, Dell, HP, Lenovo.... Not volume copies, retail copies... etc.
