My mother had incidents where on occasion her desktop shortcuts would disappear on win7. Now it's happening on win10. Her hands shake a little and she has failing eyesight. Does anyone have an idea where the shortcuts are going or how they disappear?

by the way, am I the only one that gets no replies to the fabulous windows Secrets lounge?

Thank you.

Shortcuts are easily deleted and replaced. See if setting them up for single rather than double click to open helps with shaky hands. It usually takes a right mouse click to delete one. Can that happen accidentally?

If I try to delete an icon, I get a confirmation decision. Is this a setting or is it a default?

Make only the Shortcuts that she needs on the Desktop.

Right click and choose View on the Desktop, choose Medium or large Icons
(let her decide which size she likes).

Download the following freeware. Configure it to save the Desktop and to load at Boot.

By doing so every time she boots the Desktop would be organized the same.
