Hi there everyone. I don't really know much about computer so i was wondering if anyone could help me. Whenever I boot up my computer it says on the screen "missing operarting system" What does this mean and how can I fix it? I would greatly appreciate the help if anyone would like to give me some.

Get your paws on a bootdisk and poke around the hard disk and see whats there.

If there is an operating system present..
use fdisk to check that the partition is set to active.(if there is any partitions, or even a hard disk!)
At a dos prompt type sys c:
Restart the system and see if it works.

Also did you get any sort of recovery disk with your machine?(Provided you bought it as a whole)
If so use it!

If any of the above is unclear or you need more info, just post!

It could be that the BIOS is not detecting the HD. While the machine is in the boot stage hit the delete key a couple of times and get into the BIOS and set to autodetect the hd. If that does not work, boot to the A: prompt type in C: and see if it is detecting the HD. If the C: prompt comes up type in DIR >enter< and have a look at what is on the HD.
