Sometimes when I'm using ie6 with sp1, I get a missing image or two. The only way to see the image is to refresh the whole page or 'show picture' on that image, this gets annoying as you can imagine.

So, it might have started off when I installed 'fresh download' (its a download manager that helps me resume big files), I uninstalled this and its still happening, but definitely it didnt seem to happen before installing that.

I dont have any anti-virus filtering or anything like that, it mostly happens to small icons. I've emailed fresh devices and followed their instructions for what it might be, but with no success, they said at the start of the email which I was alittle unsure about: "We have put 'FD.exe /u' command line in our installer to unregister all DLL file that probably registered to your system."

If anyone experience this before and would offer help it would be appreciated, thanks!

I had this problem forever and I finally found a fix that actually worked a few days ago, without the headache of reinstalling windows. First, do you use any kind of download program, like getright? Getright was apparently the cause my problem.

anyway, check here at the bottom of the page. It says
un-install getright.
Delete these two registry keys (the un-install does not do that!)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREClassesPROTOCOLSName-Space Handler/ftp]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREClassesPROTOCOLSName-Space Handler/http]
Removing these two keys did the trick for me, if you are having this problem check to see if these keys are present. Also, I did not actually need uninstall Getright, as long as click monitoring is disabled in getright it should work.
