Missing HD space?

I only have 1.5GB free on my 40GB HD. I wanted to install a game but it nees 2GB, so un-installed a game which was 1.5GB, but for some reason C: still only shows 1.5GB free, what's going on?

Delete temp intenet files. Run disk cleanup. Delete cookies. With only 1.5GB free you should really think about a hard drive with more space and plugging this one in to get the files that you really need.

Is it FAT32? Because FAT32 drives would have error reporting free space, after crash or weird reboots, unless you ran scandisk through it.

yea, best suggestion is the run a chkdsk /f through the command prompt (I'm assuming this is Win XP)
