Hi,
I picked up a worm virus today. I may have made the mistake of deleting the file it was residing in. I now cannot open any programs except IE. This file is needed for opening type EXE. files. I have tried locating this file but cannot find it. I would really appreciate it if someone out there can help.
Thank You in advance.

Well, I'd help ya, but since you don't have your profile enabled (go to profile up on the top and make sure 'profile visibilty' is checked) I can't see your email to send you the file. Enable your profile or post your email and I'm sure someone would be happy to email the file to you.

Or can't you access your email app either?

Hmmm...... What operating system are you running? I use Windows 2000 and that file does not exist on my computer. Maybe someone else has an idea.

According to
http://br.geocities.com/segurancamaxima/virus/smblebla.htm
(it's in Portuguese, so you'll probably want to run it through Babelfish or something)

The cause is this:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\rnjfile
\DefaultIcon = %1
\shell\open\command = sysrnj.exe "%1 " % *

It looks similar to what SirCam does, in that it makes itself the default thing to open other files.

If you're not too squimish about registry hacking, I'd say boot to safe mode, run regedit, and search for every instance of sysrnj.exe, and delete just that part of the line, leaving the
"%1 " % *
part alone.

Maybe look at
http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.sircam.worm@mm.html
for info on SirCam
