missing entertainment in win xp pro

Lemon law

Lifer
I bought a used computer with win XP pro preinstalled. And now am trying to get skype working. And it now looks like its failing because of a missing entertainment entry.

When I go start---programs--accessories---entertainment it shows empty.

in my wife's computer with xp home--entertainment shows a population of volume control, windows media player, sound recorder.

Yet when I go to my xp install disk and try to add windows components--I can't find these entries anywhere. And I am updated to the latest windows media player 11.

How do I add these components to get them in the right place? And where the hell does microsoft hide them?

Not sure where to find them exactly on the install disk, but...
%SystemRoot%\system32\sndvol32.exe (volume control)
%SystemRoot%\system32\sndrec32.exe (sound recorder)
"C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe (windows media player)

My windows media player isn't in that start menu directory.

Windows media player, go to add remove programs, and choose add/remove windows components on the left side.

Hopefully someone else can help more, but I think you might be ok if you can find a source to download those files, or browse for them on the install disk, and put them in the correct directory.

It turns out that I have the correct files in other places---but not in windows entertainment.

But thanks for the help SilthDraeth---even if I still can't get the shortcut files where they should be in windows entertainment.
