Maybe it was one of those homemade rockets. I use to live by Ohare and you could drive right up to the edge of the airport and have the planes be only a 100 hunderd feet above your head. It was actually kind of cool.

What do Islamic nutjobs think they are proving by blowing everything up? It just makes more of the world hate them. The fact they missed the plane with the RPG just means Allah ain't guiding shiznit for them.

SAM's missed giant passenger jet from 500 feet...hmmm...I guess Allah does not approve after all![]()

Sort of makes all that security nonsense at the airport worthwhile, doesnt it? What a farce.
El Al, best security in the world, shot at from the ground.

I got three.
This thread reminds me of all the times I've played an anti-tank in BF:1942 and tried in vain to hit a low plane.Anyone ever succeeded in doing this? (In the game, not IRL, better off not posting that here!)
No, but I killed my friend in his Zero with a sniper rifle. He was trying to bomb my jeep, so I got out just to be stupid, and his plane had like 1 HP left, and the sniper rifle killed him.
lol
He was mad!![]()

Thier are very few shoulder launched surface to air missiles that will succesfully do a front aspect attack.
well eventually they're all going to get RPG's up their collective a$$es anyway, if not from Israel, than from Rangers/Seals/CIA/NSA....Homeland Security???

SA-16, SA-18, Stinger series, Mistral? Also, if I recall correctly, the British Blowpipe is an optically guided missile, not IR. Plus, the replacement for the Blowpipe is the Javelin, which is RF guided. Another British SAM is the Starstreak, which uses laser beam riding for guidance -- also unaffected by older IR's front/rear aspect problems.
Nevertheless, as you mention, one of these missiles is UNLIKELY to take down an airliner, unless it ignited the fuel when it detonated.

Sorry to laugh, but I can't help myself -- do you even know what the NSA does? If you knew the typical type of people that work there, that's an awfully funny statement.![]()
