The problem is that it doesn't melt the instant you knock it off your car. Around here, it melts around, oh, MARCH.

Big deal. I grew up in upstate NY and cleaning snow off my car in a gas station was never a problem. Hell, that crap that gets stuck in and around the wheels always seems to fall off at gas stations anyway. Nobody ever complained or said you can't clear your car of caked on snow.
