What choice did he have? What was the alternative - fleeing the stage? I agree he handled it as well as he could under the circumstances, but it was a colossal fuckup to begin with. I am at a loss to see how the card he was reading from could have been any clearer.
some say he was reading off of the teleprompter. I don't know the validity of that, but if true, then he's a hero for taking one for the team.

Actually, that might have been funnier 😀

Might have been interesting to see.

:sneaky:

Shit happens. That makes every human being an idiot because we all make mistakes, even at times when we shouldn't.

I don't know how they could have made it easier for Steve, other than putting an actual photo of each lady on the card.

There is a video of him talking with judges saying that he was reading the teleprompter. If so, he took one for the team.

The card was right that he had in his hand.

Look 2/3 of the way down the page.

Harvey was reading off the teleprompter and it had the mix up. This was planned publicity stunt by the head organizers of the pageant. Harvey got screwed and was sacrificed. Look at how the news and the social media are all talking about the Miss Universe today. If not for the mix up, no one would be talking about the pageant. Someone is getting a raise.

A publicity stunt making themselves look inept? Well they do say there is no such thing as bad publicity. Fault lies with the dumb audience that falls for these stunts I guess.

She had zero business being in the finals, she had the body of a 12yr old with a huge tit-job.

Huh? I didn't know who she was until today so I just Google imaged her, I'll agree she had no business being in the finals. But she's damn near flat chested.

Probably the most attention Miss Universe has received in decades, of course.

I wouldn't put it past it being a stunt myself to begin with.

so? i'd argue that gives him more relevant experience than those that never have more than 1 or 2 relationships--or marriages.

Nope. It is like a person who dropped out of college and then write a book about the importance of college education.

When you failed or not good at all at something, you don't get to write a book about that subject IMO.

Just saw it on youtube. Was worth seeing. The whole thing is really dumb anyway. Almost as dumb as the meat heads posing, but the meat heads work harder.

Hey, you can't give a woman the fanciest jewelry she has ever imagined and then just take it away and give it to some other woman without putting lives in danger.

This. They should have instantly invented another category, that way Harvey could just have pivoted and announced Miss Phillipines as "Miss Galactic Sector" or something.

you never know what mistakes you have made until you reap the results. More experience is always better than less experience.

you define a divorce as a failure from which nothing can be learned. Such is the thinking of a naive teenager. Carry on with what you will, but the 17th, 18th, 19th, and even 20th centuries have passed you by.

Let me put it in another way so you can understand.

I will NOT listen to 600 lbs fat guy about how to stay healthy but I will listen to a 180 lbs trim and fit guy about fitness.

I think Elizabeth Taylor is beautiful when she was in her prime and a nice person with her AIDS charity work but I will not ask her (with 8 marriages) on tips about marriage and relationship. You dig?

But feel free to stay with that mindset of yours.

I understood you the first time.

You're a closed-minded person that has defined a single reality in this world, based off of a limited and happily biased perspective.

Fair enough, but society falls apart when anyone takes small people like you seriously.

I don't care if you or anyone take me seriously or not. You quoted me first, remember?

You want to get advice from people that failed, knock yourself out. I rather get advice from successful people. That's the main difference between us.

You can use labels such as "naive teenager", "closed-minded person" on me all you want but I rather learn from folks that made it than from the folks that couldn't.
