Miscellaneous Questions on DFI Lanparty UT 250 Install

Hey guys,

I have the following config:

A64 3000 @ 2.4 ghz (FSB 240, Memory @ 200).
X800 Pro
DFI LanParty UT 250
Seagate 120 Gig
Hitachi Deskstar 60 Gig
1 Gig Kignmax PC 3500
2 Optical Drives.
Antec Sonata

I have a few questions.

1. The first problem I have is probably the most major. Every week or so the system will shut down on it's own. Just kaput. When I try to power it on again it starts to boot up and conks out again (mind you it did this once at stock speeds too.). Usually leaving the computer alone for a few minutes has evertyhing running fine again.
2. I'm using stock cooling and the Speedfan shows it' runs at 48 C at idle and 56-60 when playing a game. Is this normal?
3. Both speed fan and the bios shows 2 other temperatures...what are they exactly? It shows 40 and 39 C respectively. That seems kind of high if it's the case temperatures as it used to hover around the low 30's with my Athlon XP rig.
4. +12V rail shows 11.58 V and steady. Is this okay? Am I supposed to pay attention to this one or the -12 V rail?
5. Does the video card need to be on it's own power line?

Thanks guys!

ok i'll try and help:

i'll start with 5 😱)
In my preference I keep the vid card on it's own power line depending on the card. Since it seems the x800 will draw a lot of power then yes I would

question 3) are you saying the bios and whatever program you're using are different temps? b/c that happens all the time, or if you're saying there are actually 2 different temps displayed one's prob case and other is cpu

2) 60 peak shouldn't be a problem... i think it's higher than what people are comfortable w/ usually, but under full load it should be ok. and BTW Since you're O/Cing (and for comfort) you'll probablly want to pick up a new HSF anyways.

1) have you tried to log the temps or anything when this happens? have you actually seen it happen and what were you doing. And since it only happens once a week it's very strage, but I would sitll run some diagnostics on the hardware... memtest, hdd tests, vid tests, etc....

also the x800 has built in temp readings right? might want to check that too.
Hopefully heat doesn't build up in the case to kill something... I know high end ati cards have insufficient cooling (including my 9800aiw). <- I say this b/c you have a nice rig O/Ced in a sonata which is not known for above average cooling.

Cool I'll put the video card on it's own line. As far as the temperature...I should've clarified and said the there are two temperature readouts OTHER than the cpu for three in all. I"m just wondering what each means. I've ran the full diagnostics ..memtest, Prime95, etc etc. I'll look into the temperature readings on the X800. How do I get that? I have ATI tool installed but it doesn't show it. Thanks for you help 🙂.
