misc motherboards and reccomdations

blowupboard

I'm evaluating what mainboard to use for a micro atx mb for intel p4 northwood or amd xp cpu.
Reason why I'm looking for micro atx because I'm trying to make a case mod in a small (mini-mid) atx tower case so I can haul it around for future lan parties.

I'm wondering what opinions are on biostar and ecs elitegroup mainboards?

Junk or okay to get??

I may use asus p4b266-m for p4's, but I haven't decided yet.

But please post about any recommended intel 845-d (ddr supported) chipset micro-atx mb's. No via, ali or sis please!!!!

For amd xp, what would a recommended nvidia n-force chipset micro atx board be??? No via, ali or sis again please!!!

Thanks in advance!!!!!

P.S. Don't bother mentioning abit!!!! I'm never buying another abit board again!!!!!!!!

Well then I guess you're left with nothing.

SiS makes alot of OEM products and alot of OEM computers use MicroATX based mainboards.. therefore I can say that SiS has alot of MATX mobos around.. as do the other companies.. they are decent chipsets thesedays too.. look around at the reviews, SiS is painless to setup, and runs fine... ALi I wouldn't buy either, but VIA is OK in my books, i haven't had any problems with my 4 VIA computers i use on a daily basis, they also would be readily available on MATX system boards. you might have to break down a bit in your choices or you'll have to settle with a certain mobo with a certain chipset on it, which may not be what you want... you're basically sacrificing either way if you keep up with your thoughts... To sum it up.. you shouldn't rule out all of those chipsets... you should be more open minded to some choices IMO.

Sorry for the confusion.

The reason why I requested for no one to list motherboards with a via, sis, or ali chipsets because I already have experienced those chipsets.
I own an amd duron 850 with a matsonic mb using a via kt 133a chipset, I helped a friend setup his system with an msi 6380 ver 2.0 mb (via kt266a chipset) with a 1600+ xp and another friend with an asus a7a266 (ali magik 5 chipset) and 1.3 ghz athlon tb.
Those systems cruise!!

I refuse to touch any sis chipset mb due to sis's notorious reputation for problematic, unreliable and slow performing chipsets. I realize sis is making some better chipsets now, but they still have a long way to go.

I find the upcoming via 333ddr chipset to be very promising.

Amd 760 chipset is 1 year old now and amd is getting out of the chipset business.

I have yet to experiment with nvidia nforce chipset mb.
I read they are good, but I want to find out for myself.

So that's why I'm asking for opinions on any nvidia nforce mb for amd or a p4 intel 845-d (ddr) chipset mb in a micro atx version because I'm case modding a system to take to lan parties.
