mIRC quit messages?

if I type:
/quit blah blah blah
everyone sees:
*** Signoff: CTho (Client Quit)

what am I doing wrong? I just did a clean reinstall of 6.1 to see if that had any effect...

I know that some irc servers don't allow quit messages, maybe that's the problem.

nope, these servers definitely do.

I am not sure... but:
- are you using any scripts? if so, try with plain mirc.
- check that the default command prefix is really '/' (some scripts changed it to '.'), it's somewhere on mIRC options
- try older version of mIRC

No scripts... plain mirc.
No scripts .
Already had an older version of mirc, and was updating it to try to get /quit to work
