Mirc question...mask IP/host info?

I just re-installed Mirc and it now shows my "real" IP address and local host name...the exact name of my computer on the @home network 🙁 Anyone know how to fix this? I could always use a proxy, but I remember changing this before...any ideas?

Hmmm....

Try changing your email address. I know with mine, it shows up as no@ip because my email is setup as no@way.com. When I connect, it shows my ip and my pc name in the status window, but AFAIK, other users can't get that info.

Uh, I'm pretty sure it's not that easy. Everybody can get your real IP/host name by doing a whois (ie /whois <nickname>). I might be wrong, of course.

You really can't do it.. that's why DOS attacks are so common on IRC servers. Unless you wanna screw with IP spoofing/proxies, but some servers don't like you doing that anyway.

/dns will be an easy way to get your hostname/ip DEPENDING on the server.

Get yourself a shell and setup a BNC and connect to that.
