Hey guys,

I just purchased a Miralux Splendor Plush mattress from Sleepy's for $750 including delivery, box spring, and frame.

I'm now reading mixed reviews about the mattress, and want to know if anyone here has experience with this company, or perhaps even with this exact model of mattress.

Thanks,
Brian

No shit. Something like a mattress that has the potential to make life miserable for you should be researched well before dropping the hammer on the purchase.

I learned very early in life that there are two things you don't cheap out on...

Your mattress and your work shoes.
You spend too much time in one, and not enough time in the other...you want them to be as comfortable as possible.

I suppose it was a bit of an impulse buy.

The salesman kinda got me roped in, and before I knew it I was signing on a dotted line.

This was totally against the "1 day per $100" rule that I try to follow, so I think I will cancel my order tomorrow, and spend some time making a proper decision.

I try to spend 1 day researching/considering alternative options for every $100 that an item costs. This effectively eliminates impulse buys for the most part.

Of course. I use it for smaller items...HDTV's and other household items.

I am hoping you got this from your grandpa or something...
$100 is nothing.

Think about it, like two tanks of gas, a nice dinner out, a shirt, pair of pants, etc

Now for a grand on something stupid, maybe a day to think...at most 1 week even if it was thousands.

Well, it is obviously only for non-essentials...let's not get caried away.

For instance, I spent many days researching before purchasing my HDTV. It's not an exact science, but just symbolizes how I try not to rush into purchases.

Sleepys salesmen are pretty good sly talkers. Every single one of them....but they also know what they are talking about.

That said, they are not a bad company. yes, they have alot of bad reviews, but you have to realize that the are among the biggest bed retailers in the US.

I will give you a few tips....

Mattress companies make the same bed under different model names for different companies.

Why is this important? Because Sleepy's (as well as other furniture places) are well aware of that. However, what seperates Sleepy's from the competition is that they will beat the price on a comparable mattress of the same brand(B&M AND online). You just need a written (or printed) quote. They claim to beat any comparable mattress by 20% or it is free.

how does this work? go here....

see if the company makes a comparable mattress, but under a different model. Start doing research.

This is what i did and I got a Sealy Blueberry Cove for $830 plus delivery. That mattress cost $2200 on their retail floor (yes, they, and all furniture places, mark up big time).

One thing about this store also...it is possible to haggle. I have heard stories of people about to walk out and the sales man was able to call the office and get $300 knocked off the price (you have to know exactly what model you are gonna buy from another store though). It's all dependent on how willing the salesman is.

i paid about 1500GBP, $3000, for my Tempur mattress and $400 for the pillows too. its just a memory foam mattress.

if you're after a nice bed, my advice would be just get a nice pocket sprung mattress instead.

mattress pricing is insane and how much you can negotiate.

The best deal I ever got was for a guest bed. JC Penney had a mix and match sale. The idea was none of the pieces matched. However, I first saw the queen sized mattress I knew was expensive (I was looking at it already)...then me and my ex-wife found the matching foundation after while. It was fun playing in the bed stuff.

Same chick scored our King cheap by having me wait in the car while she went in and rolled around on bed until she found someone willing to deal. They were so pissed when I came in and paid for it.
