MIP Ticket Experience?

Sadly, I was awarded a MIP ticket by the local authorities last night. I was curious if anyone has received a MIP before and what was your sentance?

AGE: 19
No alcohol was on scene. No alcohol tests. Just court ticket.

Minor in possesion. Nothing will happen except a fine and maybe community service

Its what's referred to here as a "Minor in Possession"

If no Alcohol was present, most likely a Tobbacco offense

i got one of those in 1985

i went to court, pleaded no contest
got a $40 fine. i paid it on the way out. my parents never found out (since i went to court alone)

Even if there is no alcohol present, if you are intoxicated you still get the MIP. Penalty is really just a slap on the wrist I think. Just a bit of community service and fine (assuming its your first offense).

A friend of mine in college got one. Funny thing is, she wasnt drinking, she literally was just holding it for someone else! (Who was underage, but who cares :)) She just had to do community service IIRC.

Minor in possession of alcohol. Thing is, there was no alcohol around and none of the cops really confronted us about being intoxicated.

I'm fine with going to court and doing community service, but its the fines that are going to kill me. I was saving for a Mexico trip and $300 or so dollars is going to put a huge damper on that. Anyone with experience have idea on how much this is going to set me back? The fine is $100 and $18 for court fees, but the alcohol classes are expensive from what i hear.

if you're gonna drink, stay somewhere, have fun. how hard is that?

i'm you're age and have never had one problem with the law when i drank back in highschool. i was smart about it. you remind me of my 18 year old brother, he got a mip his senior year and a dwi a year later in his first sem. of college.

I had to go to court for this. I ended up just paying a pretty hefty fine, but if I would have just pleaded guilty, I would have lost my license for a while and paid a much larger fine. I had a lawyer friend with me to help. This was in NJ, I don't know if the laws are different between states. Just be careful not to make too rash a decision.

Got an MIP my freshman year of College. Had to go to a court ordered "checkpoint" group, a 5 week class that met twice a week, talked about alcohol, drugs, etc. It was funny I relaly didnt fell I belonged there, I was 18 and got caught with half a can of budweiser in front of a frat house. Everyone else in there was on crack or heroin or something.

During the mandatory exit interview, the counselor told me I was the last person that ever need to be in the class. too bad I had to cough up $150 for the class

So they didnt test you and there was no alcahol on the scene? then cant you deny the charges, what do they have on you?

Whatever smartass. I'm not an idiot and sadly, I don't give a shiat if you've never gotten a ticket. I asked for people who have gotten a ticket, not some little Mikes Hard Lemonade drinker.

We were drinking with a few friends in the house when we heard a croud of kids outside. My buddy recently got a 03 Ram w/ Hemi and he was nervous about it. He kindly went outside and asked if they could move away from the house. They got cocky and start the crap talking. It eventually ended up with 3 of my buddies and myself getting into a brawl with about 8 drunk freshmen. The cops showed up and one of the freshmen was lying on the ground with a bloody nose. The cops then asked one kid if he had been drinking and he said no, but it was obvious he had been. He was stumbling all over the place. The cops wrote the tickets, but luckily, one of my buddies is 24 so he got out of it.

Lesson to be learned. Don't brawl packs of freshmen unless your above 21 ;)
