Not really. In Indiana a first time offender is usually offered a diversion agreement (not sure how this works in MN). Terms of the agreement generally include fines, court fees, alcohol awareness course, possible community service, and probation. Probation generally consists of 6 months to complete the terms and 6 months of not entering a bar/tavern and not being arrested again for anything more than a minor traffic violation. Additionally, with the diversion agreement only an arrest will show up (if even that) on her record and no charges will be on her record.

Have your friend look into diversion agreements and MIP laws in your area.
