minus 40 degree weather = dumbass SUV drivers

I'm originally from the Chicago area and lived in South Carolina for awhile until I moved to Michigan due to a job transfer. I drive very carefully and slow when the weather is bad even with my SUV. I always try to maintain some good stopping distance, I realize it takes my SUV a bit longer to stop than a regular car. And of course, regardless of your drivetrain, ICE is always slick!!!

By the way there is about 3-4" of snow on the road here in southeast Michigan.

Glad I'm home.

I drive an SUV as well, not all of us are irresponsible tools. 🙂 The AWD in my Bravada is nice to have in the winter but it doesn't make me or the car invulnerable. I don't get frustrated when cars ahead of me start to slow in bad weather... however, the people who like to drive 35mph on a 40mph+ 1 lane street in good weather... that's another story. 😉

They aren't really 1WD. The wheels are linked in such a way that one wheel goes the opposite direction of the other relative to the front axle. So it's possible if the transmission/axle is spinning at a rate that you should be moving 15mph to have one front wheel spin at 30mph while the other front wheel is stationary.

That's why I say one wheel drive, in slippery conditions you only get traction from one wheel.
