Can anyone comment on what uses a color laser would have? Just curious since I use a inkjet for photos and b&w laser for regular prints.

A color laser printer is better for almost any color printing job EXCEPT high quality photo printing (which can be better performed by an inkjet).

Among the uses of a color laser printer: Printing presentations, printing greeting cards and other craft projects, printing CD labels, printing color webpages (where the color is useful, e.g. maps).

Now that CostCo does color photo printing for $0.19/each using a real photo process on real photo paper, I see no reason to print out color photos with an inkjet anymore. So IMHO, a color laser printer (and a membership to Costco or web access to places like Ofoto) is all you need. A B/W laser printer is almost all many people need...

Friend of mine told me to buy from BUY.COM for $699 - $200 rebate and get free Minolta Dimage E223 (2MP digital camera). For $80 more you can get a nice camera which is not bad for Xmas gift.

I also noticed that the 2300DL has a $100 rebate which makes it $614 with free shipping at newegg.com. The main difference is that the DL is network ready - good for small offices / small buisness.

$614 is not bad for the 2300DL considering....
and $419 at newegg (no tax and free fedex) for the 2300W keep this deal hot!

color laser printers are awesome. but when its time for a recharge its horrible. toner/ink etc costs a grip. but if you need good color printing, this is a good deal. they charge a arm and a leg to get something printed by a color laser at like staples/kinkos etc

The 2300DL has three advantages over the 2300W: Ethernet, expandable memory, and LCD display on the machine. The 2300W is USB (1.1) or serial only, is limited to the 32mb of memory it comes with, and has no LCD display (all settings are controlled via software on the host PC). Home users can probably live with all three differences. In a corporate environment, you'd prefer ethernet and might well desire more than 32mb of memory.

For most home users, the $200 difference doesn't come close to being worth it. (Make it possibly $300 with the $200 rebate plus the $100 rebate that expired on 11/13 if they both work).

As for the cost of toner: The printer comes with enough toner to print roughly 1500 pages. A new full set of toner refills rated for 4500 pages will cost you about $400, or about 10 cents a color page. The B&W toner cartridge alone is about $70 and prints 4500 pages. So if you primarily print B&W, the cost per page will be less than 2 cents, which is not too bad.
