I don't ever remember going to the mall to print my letters and sales proposals. Did Orange Julius run a copy shop?

But still, nice deal.

Does this printer come with a toner cartridge? Or do you have to buy a $77 toner cartridge up front?

Edit:Looks like this printer comes with a "starter" toner that yield 1500 pages at 5% coverage. There are 2 choices for "full" toner cartridges -- a $77 one for 3000 pages, of $130 one for 6000 pages.

Yes, cheaper.
As an example from a ZDNET review of inkjet costs, "The Epson Stylus C80 costs much less--3.4 cents per page of text and 23 cents per color page--"

So, 3.4cents/page = $34 per 1000 sheets. If you're doing any volume, the added speed will also be worth a lot.

It is noted in the "Printer recomendation" above state , that $22 per 1000 is high....the link showed the Brother HL-1440 at $9 per 1000=1.1 cents/page

Enjoy...

I cashed in on this deal.. couldn't help it. While the brother was cheaper cost per page, this printer works out to be over $100 cheaper.

Merchandise Total: $200.43
Delivery Fee: $0.00
Coupon *****: -$40.00 Staples Coupon
Total Tax: $14.12

Order Total: $174.55

Dang sales tax! This is obviously before the $50 rebate will be applied. Any chance of a BVG on this baby? ;)

Not that I'm against lazer printers in any way, but any internet guru knows that C80 carts can be had for $2 a piece in bulk. I don't think the lazer printer can compete with that.

I orderd this printer a few days ago with the deal but was just called by staples telling me it was "unavailable" They would not let me get a raincheck or keep the order until it was in stock. So much for them, they just lost a customer. I hope anyone else who ordered it has better luck than me.

I ordered one of these from Staples on 11/10 and am eligible for the $50 rebate. I was pretty sure the rebate didn't need to be postmarked until 12/27 or so. I went to fill out the rebate yesterday and found that Staples online has yanked the form. Does anyone have a copy of the rebate form they can send me?

You mean a third-party cartridge right? They're just okay, I think I've noticed a difference in quality regarding colors and the ink really smells (even more than toner) while it is drying. In the end I still think the savings are worth it, but I'd prefer a really good deal on an original Epson cartridge (if that's even possible).
