My, aren't you presumtuous to assume that everyone in need refuses "to try to make something better for themselves" or that those who have benefitted disproportionally from our society should contribute nothing to the common good, regardless of how fairly and/or honestly (or not) they acquired their wealth?

Damn, you sound like a shill for the Koch suckers... err... brothers!
There are many bad apples that exist who are trying to play Robin Hood just out of envy/spite They contaminate the justification for asking those who have succeeded to help/guide those that want to make something better instead of asking for handouts do they can have. it easy.

The old story of teaching a man to fish and he will survive; hand him a fish and he will starve. The progressives/liberals want to hand over the fish. Teaching how to fish is to much like work. Cam not have one work for a living when they can legislate leeching.

Easier to leech than work.
Now people will make sure that one is able to leech so one will not starve; let others do the work for instead.

OH!!!! So the Republicans came up with a budget, but the Democrat-Labor-Farmer (basically a socialist/unionist) governor didn't get what he wanted so he vetoed it. Didn't realize that as Harvey and LK left this little important detail out of their posts bashing MN Republicans.

The governor is democratically elected and has certain authorities, like veto power. In this way the people who voted for him are represented.

If the legislature can't override his veto, it's up to them to compromise their position. It's important to understand WHY they can't override a veto..it's because their budget does not represent the desires of the people to a sufficient degree, otherwise they would have the votes.

It's THEIR job to get a budget passed, not the governors.

It's the same reason it's the US Congress' job to pass the federal budget, and that includes compromising with the President if they don't have the votes to override a veto.

The governor or the president don't have to accept the budget passed by a simple majority, and doing so would in a way violate their constitutional duty to veto a budget they don't think is best for their state or country.

The Koch brothers keep funding wingnut candidates to preach that bullshit to the Tea Tards who are dumb enough to fall for it, which is why we refer to them as Koch suckers.
