MINNEAPOLIS - A group of Minnesota National Guard soldiers in Iraq has made a comically misspelled sign mocking Sen. John Kerry's recent comments about the education level of troops, and their handiwork is getting plenty of attention.

The Massachusetts Democrat told a group of college students this week that people who don't study and do their homework were likely to "get stuck in Iraq." Kerry has since apologized, saying he botched a joke meant to be about President Bush.

The photo shows eight soldiers holding a white sign with heavy blue letters spelling out, "Halp us Jon Carry ? We R stuck hear n Irak."

Too funny!!!

This has been posted several times on this forum, in at least 2 threads in the P&N section and at least one in the OT section. I thought it was pretty funny too, but it's old news.

We'll see who's laughing after they've been stuck in Iraq for 4 more years.

4 years?

How long has the US been in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait?

I don't think they are leaving unless it turns into another Tet Offensive before things quiet down. In fact it could take several. Considering how little the media actually reports of what is actually happening.

The US is staying in Iraq for as long as the US as an Imperial power exists. With leaders like Clinton and Bush it's not going to last forever.

Check this out from Washington Post
U.S. troops marked the end of their nine-year peacekeeping role in Bosnia on Wednesday as NATO prepared to hand over the task to the European Union in December.
Nine years in Bosnia... wow, who would have thought.
6 more years till we catch up with Bosnia.

Well, since there has never, even once, been a month in Bosnia as fatal as last month in Iraq, the comparison seems obviously stupid on its face. Actually I don't think there is a single documented American fatality during Operation Allied Force or its aftermath. I know you pretty much admittedly don't care about the troops, though, and God knows you'll never go yourself, so I don't expect that distinction to have a lot of significance for you. The other major distinguishing factor, of course, is that OAF was a joint NATO operation, rather than a unilateral offensive war conducted solely by the US, like the disaster that is Operation Iraqi Freedom.

My bad I didn`t go back far enough...still funny though...heheheee

I'll even admit that's pretty funny...but I wonder if it crosses the line of soldiers getting involved in politics. The armed forces have rules prohibiting that for very specific reasons, and while I'll have to leave the military law to DonVito, I have to wonder if active duty soldiers in uniform making fun of a sitting US Senator violates some sort of military law.
