Also depends on what kind of position/field you'll be going into. Personally I think 35k starting w/ just bachelors, w/ no real world experience is kinda optimistic...

I make a little bit more than that at my internship. I won't graduate until February. Thjat said $35k is the lowest I'll go. I'm a CS/Economics major.

You're making 35k at an internship?! What internship?

i make the same at mine....

Ah, ok I get it, (the $35K is just the extrapolation of your hourly). I was just thinking you were actually getting $35k for the internship.

if you make that much for an internship how much do the people who graduated make

is what i'd like to know because 25/hr is roughly 52K a year

most people with a BS make 30-40

engineers 45-55K out of school

i make right around 54K out of school so where do you work?
if they are offering entry level engineering positions at 70K sign me up

Yeah i'm making good money at mine too a bit more than you RichieZ I've come to learn that there are two types of internships high paying ones that are trying to get you to join their organization and experience based ones that need little help attracting talent.

I think starting ppl make 60-80K, depending on experience and education, but i do know a phd thats worked here for 1 yr and is making 100K+. This is my third summer (gonna be sr) so I do get a returning intern bonus. Lets remember that I don't get any benefits and I work at least 45hrs/wk and only get paid for 40 (well techncally i get 1.5x for overtime, but its not in the budget).

Fortune 10 company, three letters. O ya this is also in the bay area so pls adjust ur cost of living accordingly

For those of you who are graduating soon (within a year) or have graduated and haven't found a job yet, what's the absolute minimum salary you're willing to accept in your first position? Please state your major and location too. Mine is 35k, majored in finance/econ from Davis, CA

Mininimum ??? Are you kidding me? You are talking as if you have options(who knows may be you do).

I didn't have any option I was willing to continue my work as an Intern at intern pay scale and 30 hours a week. Fortunately I was given a fulltime offer with full benefits with far more money than I expected.

(hopefully) going to graduate in December with a BS in CS; At this point I'll just be looking for a job that will pay me enough to get a small apartment and pay the bills - I want to get out of my house 😛. Also, because I changed majors (and because my advisors were dopes who signed me up for a bunch of junk I didn't actually need), I'd like to come back before too long. I can take probably a year or so's worth of classes and have 2 more BS degrees under my belt. One in IS and the other in Environmental Science, which was my original major.

Nate

To all you guys with these high paying internships, you guys must be the exception. I know of so many graduating CS majors who'd be happy to just get a job in their related field even if it was in the $25k-$30k region.

that sucks.... they hire CS majors here at my company (Even if with little experience) for at least 50k minimum starting....

btw my company gives me full benefits too

plus a laptop, and travel whenever needed

yeh, i was quite lucky to get my internship... one of those 36/37k equivalent hourly types in the MIS/IT type work in Fortune 50 company. ranks #9 in best places to work for IT 😀 . I'd probably not look for anything under 40k after grad.

English major. graduated in '03 and live in the NYC area.

my minimum salary right after graduation was anything greater than minimum wage.

my first job out of college paid $20K as a Customer Service supervisor and for doing some light weight database management.

I quit that job in November and started with my current job, making $35K. I could probably make more elsewhere, but I like my job and I live pretty well... only thing I'd do with more money would be to upgrade to a better apartment.

You people all have me worried when I go looking for another job.

I have no college and I'm working as a sys admin / developer making $75k tax free working on a government contract. My only experience is 5 years in telecom in the Army and this job (2 years). I got this job because of my clearance level.

I'm starting to get anxious to get back to the US, but I don't know what to realistically expect...

Is that contract ending anytime soon? If its not, I would suggest staying on it as long as you can....

I agree... it could be 2 years or so before this country is once again back on its feet economically...
