Minimum recommended video ram for a new video card ?

If I am about to buy a new graphics card how much minimum should I look for please ?

Does it depend on my resolution ?

If so I run at 2550x1440

Ok it is for Cities Skylines 2.
We only saw in-game footage for the first time yesterday, so absolutely no one can tell you what performance metrics you need. But it's detailed, and big, and will have mods out the yin yang.
Anything lower than 16GB if you're thinking of keeping your card for a few years seems foolish. 6800(XT) go for 400-500 the days.

Intel i7 12700k
32 GB of ddr4 ram
2 TB SSD NVMe
Those are pretty good specs. I don't know much about the game, but in general for gaming I would recommend a 6700XT minimum as a GPU upgrade for you. Depends on your budget though, as well as your PSU.

If it's only that one game you will be playing a lot, I think it should run fine on the Intel ARC A770 16GB. You save money, get better raytracing performance than AMD (should you want to indulge in some RT ogling) and more VRAM too. All of the nGreedia options are priced badly.

I agree with that. For an alternative, a Radeon 6700/6750 should do well at 1440p. If you can get a good deal on a 6800, that'd be optimal.

Also, consider the 6900XT and 6950XT if the price is right. Sometimes due to deals, they go for the same or little more than a 6800XT or 6800. These 16GB cards should all be in the $450 to $600 range at times. I will caution though, that the RX 6800 may not be the best deal, as in many cases I believe it is actually slower than the RX 6750 XT, which can be had for under $350.

Finally, I would consider the RTX 3090 as well. You might find a decent deal on it for around the same price as a 7900XT, or less if you consider a used one.

The answer, as with all things computer/luxury good related, is as much as you can afford.

If your pocketbook allows an 8gb 6600xt, get that. If it allows a 24gb 4090, get that instead.

Without some bumpers telling us your budget, the answer is pretty wide open.

Was very surprised to hear that so looked up Techpowerup's review of the 6750 XT and sure enough it occasionally wins over the 6800 non XT, but it seems to be mostly at 1080p and occasionally 1440p with very cpu bound games, eg Battlefield V at 1080p, Borderlands 3, Divinity Original Sin II, etc., although the 6750 XT beating the 6800 non XT in Watch Dog Legions even at 1440p was kind of surprising. Wonder if it's that 12.5% bump in memory clock or something.

Ok it is for Cities Skylines 2.

Won't know for sure till the game comes out but the first game was definately more of a cpu bound game in my experience. Looking at the specs on Steam page, the min is GTX 780(3GB)/RX 470 (4GB). Recommended is 2080ti (11GB)/6800XT (16GB).

I would say, right now with what little footage we've just now gotten, safe bet is 16GB for 1440p, 12GB min. Given that you have a 2060S already, it might be worth waiting to see how it does when the game is released.

Yeah. It may turn out that instead of a GPU upgrade, you really need a 13600K.
Honestly, at that point I would wait for Raptor Lake refresh at least. I don't think they are too far off, and should still work in his LGA 1700 motherboard? Of course other games will really be wanting more GPU power, if there are other games he is into.

I may wait until the game is out to determine if I need upgrade my video card or not.

Currently have a EVGA Geforce RTX 2060 super.
With only 8GBs video ram, it's not so super now is it? And you should be ashamed for owning an 8GB card and stating it so shamelessly in these forums. xD

These are the official Cities skyline requirements.

My bet is your -not so super- RTX 2060 will be fine.
