As I get older, I get just a bit lazier. I want to avoid doing more stress-testing on my system than necessary.
I have a pair of Crucial Ballistix DDR2-1000 modules in my Striker Extreme motherboard.
Technic3D -- the German web-site, reviewed and tested these modules, providing some good bets for lowered latencies at less than full DDR speed-spec of 1000 Mhz.
Between DDR2-750 and DDR2-850, the review noted that the setting of 4,4,3,8 provided the better bandwidth, although 3,4,4,10 "works." Further, these modules will run with a 1T command-rate setting with those latencies (at the right speeds, of course.) The modules are spec'd at 5,5,5,15 for 1,000 Mhz, and easily run at 4,4,4,12 or 4,4,4,10 at lower speeds.
I've determined that the modules will run at 3,4,4,8 at DDR2-720. I now have them working at 3,4,3,7 at the DDR2-668 speed-setting.
Does anyone else know just how much you can tighten the latencies on these things between DDR2-533 and DDR2-700?
