Minimalistic business card: simple is better? or lack of creativity?

Do you think getting a very simple, minimalistic business card is a good idea? I'm talking about a card with no graphics whatsoever. Just your name, job, company, e-mail, and phone in a nice font.

Depends. Sometimes simple is indeed better. What kind of business are you in?

Software development.

In that case, go with something simple. If you were in photography or graphic design or something like that you would maybe want to go with something a little more fancy, but for your purposes, keep it simple.

Do you need a business card or calling card?

I think minimal is best. Check out my letter-pressed ones.

Business cards are like resumes: You will impress people more if they are simple, neat, and get the job done with a minimum of words.

This is true even if you were a model or a graphic arts person.
If you wanna impress people with your style and flair, show them a portfolio of all your wild stuff. But resumes and cards should always be neat and orderly.

Business cards should always be simple. Unless you want an unprofessional, fancy card to show off to friends (which still probably won't impress anyone, unless it's made out of gold or something...mmm, precious gold...).

The amount of effort you put in to the details of doing business reflects on the amount of effort you will put into a customer's project.

A simple and bare minimum business card implies you will produce a simple and bare minimum project.

It's up to you and your pricing structure to decide if this a good thing or a bad thing.

With as many free templates as there are on the web you'd be better off at least doing that and having a card that is more memorable and visually interesting.

first thought to pop in my head when i get a wild and busy business card is waste. its a waste of time, money and energy to have such a card. Also if they have to resort to such tricks to get me to remember them then maybe they are not worth my money.
